I saw there was a forecast of rain for the game....huge, torrential amounts of rain.  They're used to playing in those conditions which could be an advantage.

How much did flood aggie cost the conference last year by knocking OSU out of the MNC game?  Conference won't allow it a second time.

How great would it feel if we "dollar signed" Iowa State? I imagine pretty amazing.

But srsly, I have only seen a few clips of their games and I'm pretty sure they're basically an entire roster of 5-heart Hrebecs and a Germany-era Dylan Meier.

LHC Bill Snyder is 16-4 against these losers? Bill had a bunch of awful seasons in his career at KSU. Really a shameful performance by Iowa State. They are the worst.

If there is one thing I know in this entire world it's that Paul Rhodes is a horrendously bad football coach. Sometimes when I watch isu (rarely), I sit in awe of how terrible he is.  Just god awful.

You be nice about Coach Rhodes, he's now 9-17 in conference play. He's gone 3-5, 3-5, 3-6, and now is 0-1. He's just about to get the Clones turned around that corner.

The average Isu fan is thrilled with 6-6 each year

his record at ISU was 56-85, 27-68 in conference. why are there a lot of people that remember mccarney as a non-shitty coach? I don't get it. it's laughable that he lasted as long as he did at isu. it's probably these same fans that think paul rhoads is doing a great job at isu getting their conference record up to 9-17 during his tenure.

Relative:

His last 6 years at ISU (after rebuilding a program that was near pre Snyder K-State suck levels) and went 43-43 with only two losing season. He was also a missed field goal away from winning the North one year as well.

For a school like ISU this a successful football coach and they fired his ass for Gene Chizik  (who is going to make Auburn the ISU of the SEC here very soon)

He was actually 34-40 over his last 6 years at ISU storm. And he was 17-31 in conference over those last 6. Over 11 seasons at ISU he had one winning season in conference (5-3 in 2000, good enough for 3rd place in the North). His last year he went 1-7 in conference. He sucked ass, there is no way to sugar coat it.

His record was really weird at ISU. He had four seasons in the middle of his career when he went 4-4 and one at 5-3, which is the best stretch of football in ISU history (I'm not making that up). But the other 6 seasons he was 1-7 or 0-8.

I suppose how I can see ISU fan will be patient with Rhodes; McCarney went 4-28 in the league his first fours seasons before the "breakthrough" 9-3 season in 2000. That is the best season ever (EVER!) for Iowa State football (unless you count 9-1 in 1906).

So even with his 27-68 conference record, McCarney had the best season ever and the best 6 year run ever at I-State.

mccarney did well at ISU, there's no reason to say otherwise unless you're just a fool.  there's really no reason to sugar coat it and to do so is both laughable (sd) and horrific (MiR).

I'm sure Dan McCarney is a real nice guy.  I mean, Bill likes him.  And what else says real nice guy than someone willing to wear khakis and McDonald's-color-scheme shirts in public.

So at the end of his time at ISU, who is more highly regarded by the fanbase, Rhodes or McCartney?

Well, McCartney won a national title.
