It would, but with 4-5 games left against ranked teams 9-0 is very unlikely.

I plan on beating WVU so the higher they are ranked the better. How does them winning road games change anything unless it ended up in a 3 way tie where we had to go to BCS rankings? And even in that situation we would be getting the later "better" win so them winning in Austin should help.

It is more reasonable to hope for teams to lose on the road because it is more likely.

Texas is a much better team than West Virginia, so from a "winning the conference" standpoint, it's probably better for us if West Virginia wins the game, as they will still lose a few games to other teams. From a national rankings standpoint, we should be rooting for Texas. WVU will not fall far after a road loss in Austin, and it's better to have big wins at the end of the season, anyway. Texas staying in the top 5 until Dec. 1 would be huge for our final game of the season.

As far as conference strength perception, it's probably better if the home teams win (if they are both ranked)...the teams with no hope of becoming ranked probably should continue to lose regardless of location.
