I don’t know for a fact but I think they make a lot in some situations. Also I’d like to note I’m 100% team nurses are great. This is just my employment valor thread.

California bedside nurses make bank but it's pretty shitty in most parts of the country. Depends on the union mostly

they (rn's) make a lot in utah and texas too.  i think they make a lot everywhere.  also, they can always get a job (because the supply is kept artificially low).

My wife told me that she'd make 1/3 of what she currently makes if she was working in Kansas, for example. Utah looks similar. Might be a bit of a stretch but not too far off when you consider Bay Area nurses make more than the California average.

I've dated a couple nurses and a standard nurse 5-10 years out of college is making around 60-70k in the KC area.

They can also make alot more if they work nights (like a couple more $ per hour) and pickup overtime shifts (time and a half).

Also they have a college degree and get crap/vomit/blood/piss on them all the time, have to move obese patients/deal with bad person patients/family and watch people die while working in a buerocratic mess so I'm all for them making as much money as possible.

That commute might be a tad long if the office ever opens again

GF works in hospital. Short staffed due to covid hitting a few co-workers. They asked her to start working 4 12's on the backshift. She said "Double Time from hour 1 or hire some new people." They took her offer. Artificial or not, the short staffing is real.

Yes, those paychecks are rolling nice right now.

Yeah, I feel like hospitals are terrible at getting the correct amount of nursing staff etc and then just throw money at nurses to "fix" the problem. It seemed like around every holiday they would offer double/triple pay for nurses to pickup shifts because so many people took off/called off. It would start at time and half but no one would take it because they knew eventually they could get triple their hourly pay if they waited long enough.

Good work on your GF's part for laying down the law.

Come from a family of nurses and will be marrying one here in a few months.  Nurse life seems horrifying but also sweet.  Good (not great) money and 3 12s is the filet of year-round workweek schedules (excluding teachers).

Teachers schedules suck imo. No paid time off during school year so restricted to solely school break travel. Sister in law is a teacher and they can never do fun stuff with us 3/4 of the year.
