We are going to crush Iowa State.  They are just awful.

yes, by 3 TD's.

The idiots harping on the "you can't win close games forever and ever" talking point were essentially correct. Where they got that crap wrong was in their thinking we'd continue playing nothing but close games this year -- they didn't allow for K-State improvement.  If this is an improved team, as we believe, the Cats have a few more blowouts left in them ... and the next two games are prime candidates.

The only game on the schedule I'm worrying about is Texas. They might be better than us. Everyone else is worse.

Coming into the season every one of us would have been okay with 10-2 or 9-3.  To get to those marks we had to win at least 3 of these games. @ OU, @WVU, OSU, @TCU, UT.  We've won 1 of these games, not two or three.  Nothing has changed, we're on the way but have plenty of work to do, not to mention having to navigate trap games like @ISU and hosting TT.

I'll revisit my stance after flood aggy and coal aggy.
nothing has changed since the begining of the season?  that's weird, i thought we were in week 5.  a lot has changed, namely how much information we have about the teams.

yes fuckhead, that is exactly the context in which that should have been taken

Nothing has changed as far as the games we thought would be tough to win.  Unless you went into the season thinking K-State had no shot at all to beat OU, we are still at the status quo for the most part as to what we think of the top 5 or 6 teams in the conference.

I think this describes just about everyone. It took the Miami beatdown and OU looking weak against UTEP before I would even consider the possibility.

I don't think we executed as well as we could have against OU. Don't get me wrong, we played mistake free. But in terms of our best game, I don't think that was our ceiling. Just my opinion.

didn't love the 1st half play calling, I thought  :bill: fell into his old trap of not trusting his players

I’m assuming by “trusted” that you mean “throw the ball”?  Maybe I’m naïve, but I thought the first half was body shots.  He began trying to throw some haymaker-ish punches when he felt he needed to and/or the opportunity presented itself in the second half.  I dunno.  If anything, I thought in the first half there were series in which I began asking myself “so, we’re a throwing team?”. I didn’t agree at all on the calls inside the 15/10 when we settled for a FG.

That first punt on 4th and short set the tone that Bill was just going to play conservative mistake-free football, make sure the defense keeps the ball in front of them, and ensure that our superior talent wins the line of scrimmage and field position battle while we capitalized on any turnovers that came our way.

I didn't say anything about thinking we would beat OU, I said thinking we would have a chance.  The point once again being that among the top teams in this conference there isn't any one markedly better than the other.  Going to Norman isn't significantly tougher than going to Morgantown, Manhattan, Austin, or Stillwater for that matter.  We're the favorite now because we had the luxury of winning one of these games first, not because we showed anything that makes us uniquely qualified to win the rest of them by just showing up.

Before the game in Norman I thought there were games that we would lose if the other team showed up.  So that win changed my confidence as a fan. I agree that the schedule is brutal and everyone is good.

By trusting his team I mean something other than Hubert runs between the tackle and fades on 2nd & 3rd and long.  It seems to me that the game plan was to stay in it in the 1st half and then go with it in the 2nd.  OUs inability to cash in, thanks front 7, and John Hubert's ability to gain positive yardage saved us from being down about 17-3 at the half.  We wouldn't have come back from that.  Not sure that game plan will work against WVU.  I see that game somewhat similar to OSU last year.  We'll need plenty of points to win, but they will be there for the taking.  Just hope we start aggressive & stay that way.

I take it back, one thing among the top teams has changed in my eyes; OUs lines are really bad, they've been exposed.

At this point, IMO, compared to the beginning of the season, TCU looks very winnable (a should win), OSU looks like a for sure win, WVU looks winnable (will win unless we crap the bed), and UT looks much more difficult, even considering the series history.

I agree with everything except for OSU being a for sure win. I see their game with Texas on Saturday as a toss up, despite Lunt being out, and if they pull off the W, people will be changing their tune about them really quick. I'm just glad we have them at home.

I'm assuming we would have owned a freshman QB (at home, minus Blackmon), and assuming we would really own his backup.  Agree that those may not be fair assumptions, but that's how I'm going forward until I decide otherwise.

I really don't think TCU is that good.  Admittedly, I only watched about a half of the Virginia game, but they did not impress me.  Also, 20-6 is nothing to write home about.  I think they are at best a 4-5 team in the Big XII this year. Texas, WVU, KSU, OU, and at least one of OSU, ISU and Baylor will beat them.

Other than you making OSU a gimmie, completely ridiculous BTW, you aren't saying anything different than anyone else.  Did you not think TCU, WVU, and UT were "winnable" before last Saturday?

Agree that UT is going to be the toughest game. Thankfully we get them at home on SR. day after a bye week. I also think TCU and ISU are going to be hard based on how they play. Think North Texas with more talent.

WVU doesn't scare me themselves, they are a very good team but I don't think they are any better than OU. I believe us at our best would beat them at theirs. But, the fact that we play them on national TV, at their place, at night, with gameday in town (if we both hold serve until then) scares the crap out of me.

They would have to win at DKR next weekend to hold serve, so yeah, I would be scared shitless if that actually happens. I have a feeling Texas will make them look like Ole Miss, though.
