So, is it reasonable to expect a conference championship this year? Or is that still a whisper? I mean, we executed probably as well as we could have hoped to against OU, coupled with OU just wetting the bed. We’ve looked good/above good against Miami and OU, but average/below average against MoSt and N Texas.
Our remaining schedule seems ridiculously tough.
So, is it reasonable to expect a conference championship this year? Absolutely. This is a very good football team. It's a highly efficient and difficult offense to stop that will put points on the board. An offense that also won't face a better front 7 on defense the rest of the way other than Texas (which is a home game). It is a defense that starts 9 seniors, stubborn against the run, and has a good enough pass rushing set up front. Special teams are going to be good.
Or is that still a whisper? Only if the whisper is at a screaming volume.
Our remaining schedule seems ridiculously tough. - I'm no longer buying this notion. TCU has a LOT of very young players it puts on the field. West Virginia has a lot of weaknesses to exploit in their defense. OSU is starting a not only a freshman at signal caller but the #2 freshman. Iowa State struggles to move and score the ball.
Texas is the biggest challenge on the schedule remaining. And they are going to be a b*tch to face because they are the one team that is getting great line play on both sides of the ball.
I will say this about your comment concerning we executed about as well as we could against OU. I think we left a few plays on the field offensively. I would say that OU played outstanding defensively in that game. Sure, they left plays on the field offensively but they are not as consistent as we are on that side of the ball.
I'm not drinking kool-aid, people. We have a very good team this year.
