IMO, NFL diehards are people who didn't go to college.   :dunno:

True.
This is what I've always thought. The kind of fan that when the chiefs lose they drive back to their St Joe house with the broken down car in the front yard and kick their dog. That's what I visualize at least.

You guys are weird

I'm stealing this from someone, but NFL fan vs College fan is Job guy vs Career guy. There's more meatball types among NFL fans. Like, guys who are also really into engines and funny car racing and ATVs and the lake and other things in that Midwestern thread.

NFL fan = meth, NASCAR, Skoal, dogs
College fan = cocaine, soccer, cigars, cats

The venn diagram would have a significant overlap, but this is generally correct.

I want to like Mitch, but a short conversation I had with him in a hotel elevator makes it hard.

I guess I and all my elite friends are renaissance men who don't choose one or the other. I think if you're from a city with a team or not is the main difference

What's wrong with Stephen St John?

SSJ started out as a caller in the early days of the old 810 (1510 at the time) by the name of MU Rock.  pretty crazy

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Pro Tip: The "Chiefs fans are Blue Springs White Trash" stereotype is pretty stupid. 95% of the people in the KC metro are pretty big Chiefs fans.

But I do agree with _Fan, the weird name dressed up NFL fans are pretty weird.

I'm sure Mocat and his family are an exception to the rule.

Mocat's family sound exactly like a bunch of other normal families I grew up around who lived and died Chiefs.

I'm a fan.  Big fan even.  Just not a diehard.  Theres a difference.  Like I'm not a guy who wears a Marcus Allen jersey to work on Friday and paints my face on Sunday.  I don't go to spring training or the Mitch holthaus show at gas light grill.  I don't call the players by their first game.  I'm a fan.

With KSU, Its different.  That's just me.

Growing up in KC during the 90's I always assumed that the chefs season ticket base was made up of 75% poors who bought chefs season tickets instead of going on vacation....like their vacation was tailgating and going to 8 games a year.

I now know this is no longer the case but I do feel like it has some merit behind it.

there is absolutely truth to this the farther/less affluent/educated you get from KC.  i know plenty of people who have no business being a season ticket holder financially, pool tickets, etc and it truly is a "vacation" they plan for to go to KC.  if it makes them happy then more power to them, but to me it comes off kinda depressing.

I can only compare KSU, KU, and MU fans to Chiefs fans, because that's all I've really witnessed.  I'm sure in other areas with no NFL teams, Oklahoma, Nebraska, SEC country, there are probably a lot more similarities.

But a KSU, KU, MU crowd is night and day different than a Chiefs crowd.  And anybody who's witnessed both sides would agree.  At the most basic level, local college games are family oriented and Chiefs games are not.  which is perfectly fine.  but, it is what it is.  completely different atmospheres made up of very different people.

Hey, look at all the small town Kansans who think it's weird to have NFL (most popular sport in the country) tickets but not weird to drive to Manhattan for all the K-State games, donate to the Ahearn fund and post thousands of times on goEMAW.com

Whoa, I think there is confusion here. I don't think the majority of NFL fans are weird, but I do think the extreme NFL fans that dress up and go to shows like Mitch's can be quite strange. JMHO.

I have no problem with the majority of people that grew up/live in NFL cities and are NFL diehards. That seems pretty normal.

Being a big time NFL fan is just part of being a big shot in a big time city like KC or Olathe.
