Ku Fan: I'm ready for competitive football again. The past 2 years were depressing.

Kstate Fan: I'm curious to see if KU can get back to competitive this year....I think the gap has been so wide the last two years that it may take another year or two. But yeah, it'll be good for KU to get back to competitive.

KU Fan: We'll see. We were poorly coached and no discipline. It's no surprise that Mangino kids that Gill benched are back starting with Weis. Weis ran off 23 players that weren't willing to follow the rules and has filled as many holes as possible with kids from winning programs. Biggest thing he's done is put a kid with NFL talent in at QB and KU's brought a ton of kids on the d-line so there's a legitimate 2-deep all across the front line for the first time in a decade. From what I've been told, KU's staff thinks they have some pieces to work with. The cupboard isn't completely bare like everyone else assumes based on the past 2 years results.

KState Fan: No question about the poorly coached/poor discipline. It will be interesting to see how much of it was coaching, and how much was lack of talent -- we'll see this year. It's usually a bit of both. I'm also going to wait to see the QB play before I annoint him NFL-Talent.

KU Fan: Crist will for sure get drafted. With a good year, he'll go in the first round. With a bad year, he'll go somewhere. You can't teach 6'4", 225 lbs with a big arm. Josh Freeman is a perfect example of a kid that looked the part that didn't really perform on the field but was still a first round pick. Weis loves Crist so he's going to do everything he can to make him look good and put up good numbers. KU didn't have a single last placed class in the league (6,9,8,5 were the last 4 class ranks). KU definitely doesn't have a deep team, but the first string should be able to keep KU in some games. KU will mostly have upperclassmen on the field. Even as bad as KU was last year, we were in the game with Baylor, TT, ISU and hung around for a half with OU, MU. If KU is competitive this year, it really shouldn't be that big of a surprise with better coaching, a better QB, and plugging some holes on offense and the DL. It will be a surprise to those that don't follow the team, but shouldn't be to anyone else.

KState Fan: I have no question that the team is going to be significantly better...I do think wins will be hard to come by this year though -- although there are several teams that will be down a bit from previous seasons which should help.
