yeah Metallica is great live (03 and 08 for me)

blink 182 / Weezer / TBS was great

I saw Avenged Sevenfold in Lawrence in 06 and caught one of the drummer's drumsticks before he died  :sdeek:

Ted Nugent on the 4th of July at Uptown in 05. He shot a bow and arrow at a lifesize cardboard cutout of Saddam:lol:

Muse in Nashville 2010

He did this back in '91 or '92  at the Kansas Coliseum when he was with Damn Yankees

Fat Elvis, Bill's Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, NV

They did karaoke there and there was another fat elvis hanging out.  He want up and sang an elvis song like a scared 9 year old.  Was really disappointing

Top 5 people I want to punch in the face for waking me up at 2:08 AM on a Monday morning so they can get into the house and start a stupid rough ridin' thread about concerts:

1-5: EMAWMeister
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers 2007 in OKC (Opener was Mickey Avalon, which was great for all of the 12-year-olds that loved Dani California there with their parents )
2. Foo Fighters / Serj Tankian / Against Me, 2008 in Des Moines, Front row
3. Matisyahu 2008 at Crossroads, Front Row
3b. Incubus at City Market 2007
4. John Butler Trio 2010 at Crossroads, Front Row
5. Tom Morello and the Nightwatchmen / Neon Trees / AWOLNation / Bush / Incubus / Janes Addiction at Livestrong Sporting Park 2011

Hon Mention:
311 / The Offspring / Pepper at Sandstone 2010, Front Row
RHCP 2012 St. Louis
Manchester Orchestra / Coheed and Cambria / Weezer City Market 2010
Edit: Radiohead at Sprint Center 2012
311 / Matisyahu Des Moines 2007 Front Row
Cage The Elephant at Beaumont Club 2010 Front Row
John Butler Trio 2011 Crossroads
Derek Trucks Band 2009 Voodoo Lounge

I thought this would be fun, but it's actually impossible to narrow it down and rank these.  I am only solid on my #1, the rest probably change hourly.  Bolded the band I was there to see if there were multiple.

Love live music.  These are the big shows I think I enjoyed the most:

1.  Barry Manilow @ Radio City (was dragged there, but damn he puts on a good show)
2.  Def Leppard @ Bramlage
3.  Killers @ MSG
4.  HORDE Fest (Blues Travelers) @ Sandstone
5.  Beastie Boys @ KCK

Honorable Mention: Girl Talk @ Brooklyn,  Reverend Horton Heat @ Jayhawk Music Festival, AC/DC @ Bramlage, Dirty Projectors @ Brooklyn...

Def Leopard (Europe opened)
Garth Brooks
Coldplay
Leonard Cohen (people watching allowed this to make the list, and nearly moved it to the top. Plus, the venue was 2nd to none. Had Cohen removed his fedor one more time and went down on one knee, then I would have voted this #1.)
OMG, completely forgot Dylan opening for Santana. As concerts went, it is #3 on the list, but it was an awesome time.

oh man, joe diffie, that's a name I haven't heard in a while, that's great.

I'll try, but I'll forget something:

1) John Prine at Bonnaroo: He made me cry in a ridiculous dusty field in the middle of the afternoon
2) Flaming Lips at Bonnaroo: Everyone should see "Do You Realize" with all the confetti and lights. Amazing, beautiful, experience
3) My Morning Jacket at Bonnaroo: I have already mentioned how incredible they are live. This was a midnight show in pouring rain and they took it up a notch.
4) Mitch Hedberg at the Uptown KC. Not music but he made me fall out of my seat laughing. Literally!
5) Jay Z at Bonnaroo. I kind of hate that 4 of the top 5 are at Bonnaroo but Jay Z absolutely killed it in front of 80,000 people in probably the toughest genre to pull off live.  One of my biggest regrets is not going to one of the Jay Z/Kanye shows.

Honorable mention: Father John Misty at Bottom of the Hill in SF, Milk Carton Kids at Cafe du Nord in SF, Iron & Wine at Bonnaroo, Willie Nelson at the Cotillion Ballroom, Ween at the Cotillion Ballroom opening for Foo Fighters in 1995(?), Sharon Jones at the big theater in Lawrence (the Granada?)

Best small concert I went to was Apocalyptica. It was crazy how good of a show they put on in a tiny ass club.

In no particular order:
Refused in Chicago this year
Mogwai in Lawrence in '05
Queens of the Stone Age in KC last year (played their entire self titled album)
Mars Volta in KC '08 (3 hours of epic)
Nine Inch Nails in Columbia '08

Really could have put a few others.

311/ Matisyahu - KC City Market
Eagles of Death Metal - KC (Sandstone) this was actually at Buzz Beach Ball but they were the best show.
Minus the Bear and two bands I can't remember that were good - Lawrence, Granada
The Urge / Pomeroy - Silverados (don't laugh was increds)

I haven't been to very many concerts.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

311/ Matisyahu - KC City Market

Pretty sure this was in the parking lot across from the Beaumont Club, not City Market.  Was an awesome show.

Extra honorable mention:  Ging and I stumbling onto 3 Doors Down playing a free show at 4th Street Live in Louisville the day of the Kentucky Derby in 2010.  At first figured it was some cover band playing "Loser".

I witnessed Calvin Harris cry during a set at Tryst (at the Wynn) because a few people didn't like his music.  So that was a pretty awesome/incredible experience.
