figured it was on purpose but of all of us, you've taken the oscar thing the hardest. wasn't 100% sure you didn't lose it halfway through your paragraph and just start over.
yeah i took/am taking it pretty hard. illinois has always been the only other school that i actually cheer for. in highschool i had more illinois gear than ksu. way more. so i was pretty excited when illinois finally got rid of oscar and then kstate (my favorite school) immediately went out and hired him and i was all like omg you have just got to be kidding me. i just can't do this. i also went all in when they hired huggins and bought season tickets that year for the first time since i graduated, despite living an hour and a half away at the time, so i think that emotionally invests me a little more than if i just would've just been couch watching for the past six years. also being a townie4life makes a difference i think. people that didn't grow up in mhk can never care as much as those of us that did.
I wasn't happy with the hire at all, and as I said, I think we could have done better. I understand why the hire was made (as we discussed before), and I think he'll do alright. "Alright" is a subjective term, so your interpretation and my interpretation could be different.
I guess after seeing what Frank Haith did last year, my perception on how success/failure transitions from one situation to another has probably changed. I'm willing to give oscar a chance, albeit a slim one, and I'll turn on him like a rabid dog when the time comes, but until then, I'll let him see what he can do.
Good insight on the Illinois thing. Makes a lot of sense as to why you'd feel this way.
