Moms: do your toddlers have nightmares? (the kid) has been waking up nightly, sometimes several times a night, screaming. She is usually a very good sleeper. She's not reading scary books and we don't have a TV. Not sure what it's all about?

Above person mentioned they don't own a TV in their Christmas letter.
Probably doesn't even have a kid. Just invented one in order to mention the "no TV."

According to CNN: "About one-third of the lowest income households had either LCD or plasma TVs according to conservative researchers, signaling that the consumption gap is narrowing. Some researchers believe that Americans don’t have a true idea of what living in poverty means. Do you agree? http://on.cnn.com/R8CH45"

The "no cable" ones are the worst.  I know someone who says that all the time, meanwhile they watch the crap out of their stolen cable.  Disgusting.

I for one do have a television, do have hulu +, do have espn 3, do have netflix, do have mlb extra innings and tonight will have HD extended cable after a summer respite of basic.
Did the same thing with Direct TV when out of town for a long vacation this summer and have just left it off.  The best part of kids watching the the same Nick Jr and Disney shows from Netflix and Amazon is no ads for crappy toys that they won't shut up about.  I wish we would of tried it before we owned two Cuddleuppets, a Slushy Magic and a Dream Lite.

my mom (kansan) loves to brag about not watching tv. I've never met anyone that didn't own a TV. seems like you're hating made up people.

My boss back home doesn't have a tv. He's late 30s. Very tech savvy and very cognizant of what's going on. I didn't know he didn't have a tv until we'd been work friends for like 3 yrs and I made a reference to The Office. Seemed weird at first but I get it now.

I don't think this guy qualifies.  I bet he streams the crap out of stuff on his pc, games, etc.

tangent: I haven't enjoyed a movie since I discovered Deadwood/The Wire. The serial drama medium is simply far superior to motion pictures.

I never watch anything that isn't live. I am the opposite. I watch no tv shows or movies.

why sd  :dunno:

im fascinated by this

I have no idea. I get bored by everything. I have a weird adult ADD thing where before I start do anything (like sit for a 3 hour movie or even a 30 minute show) I get anxious and bored and don't want to commit to it.

JFC, I am totally like this.  I have some stuff dvr'd but never get around to watch it.  I will sit down and watch tv but the show that is actually on will always grab me instead of the recordings I have.  Even when I decide to watch them and sit down with that intention, I will end up watching regular tv.

I have never in my life watched a dvr'd sports event.

DVR'ed sports are the best unless you like to tweet/chat during.

I usually start watching things right as half time would be starting and most often catch up to live programming by the last few min of the game.  It's fantastic.

It's like stealing an hour or hour and a half from the world.

Why pay for cable when streams and torrents are available?

I just read that sentence and in my head it played in the voice of the intelligent, whisper-voiced science guy from a mind-bending/disaster movie.

At our house, we love TVs so much, we'll just place one right in front of the other.  That's how much we love TVs.

I don't really watch anything with professional actors.  Real people on TV are way more entertaining to me.

1.  "reality" tv is rough ridin' terrible
2.  "reality" tv is as scripted as any other show, just terrible writers.

On last Sunday's "Mob Wives" there was a segment where they were trying to give the backstory on one of the mobsters and how he brutally killed some lady during a robbery.  A newspaper clipping flashed on the screen with a big BRUTAL MURDER headline.  If you paused it and read the words underneath, it was all "lol i'm an intern and i have to type a bunch of words to make this look like a real article getting bored now i think i'll just cut and paste this the rest of the way".
