He's right, Dlew12. Ubben doesn't have to pick somebody worse than Seastrunk as his best back this year just because Seastrunk wasn't the best last year.
But that doesn't stand to reason. If the best back last year is returning then he should be the best back until further notice.
Randle, the other first teamer, went to the NFL. So the crown remain on Hubert's glorious corn-rowed head.
The way Seastrunk ended last season was a thing of beauty. He clearly has the best tools of any running back in the Big 12, and Ubben is putting more stock on potential than past results. Anybody can set predictions by looking at last year. Ubben makes the big bucks to connect the dots and make accurate predictions for next year. Don't forget when he called KSU "the darkest horse of them all" and ended up being dead on and making all of his colleagues look silly in the process.
Predicting teams' finishes is totally different than saying who the best rb in the league is. The "darkest horse of them all" prediction depended on a ton of variables: Who we had returning (Brown, Harp, no CCQ, etc), who the rest of the league was returning, scheduling, (OU at home) etc. Seastrunk ended last season red hot, but he was nowhere to be seen outside of his last 5 games, largely thanks to Briles.
The point remains, Hubert was first team all big 12 as a junior, and it stands to reason that he will do the same as a senior, especially with the line we have returning this year.
