The Big 12 did have a championship game this year. It was played on Sept. 22 and Kansas State won it, as long as the Wildcats finish off the Longhorns tonight, too.

Every team that beat a Big 12 team in 2012 is eligible for a bowl game.

K-State's a bowl team next year, but a Big 12 title contender? I don't buy that one bit, unless Sams or Waters just absolutely blows up next season. I expect one of them to be solid, but not one of the league's best.

Predictions: Ted Miller says Oregon 33, Kansas State 24. Kevin Gemmell says Oregon 49, Kansas State 38. David Ubben says Oregon 38, Kansas State 31.

He can't write his feel-good piece about how we shocked the world tomorrow if he publicly states that we are going to win beforehand.

not exactly friendly to emaw and definitely not tsc.

Kansas State will be young, but it will have some under-the-radar talent on both sides of the ball, despite the loss of big names. Beware of the Cats.

Ubben's articles on Weis are just the best.

On the Big 12 vs SEC:

Quote
"I’m just sayin’, you look at the bottom of our league and the bottom of their league, just going based off the numbers, there’s validity in what he said," Weis said. "I’m just going based off the numbers, I mean, I’m a numbers guy. Just based off the numbers, you’d have to say he’s got a point."
http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/67063/weis-stoops-has-a-point-in-sec-criticism

On his strategy for recruiting JUCO players:

Quote
"You can say to a guy, you look out there? You don’t think you can play here? Because if you can’t play here, where can you play?” he said.

That is just great recruting, just tell them that we are such puds, that there isn't anyway they won't get playing time.  Please come play for a team of puds, you studly juco player you.

he and frank martin have a lot of similarities. like, will completely trash their current d00ds to recruit better d00ds. I like that.

I'm thinking about doing a lengthy review of his list of top 10 big 12 players ever tonight.  STAY TUNED!

Analysis: Vince and Ricky will be 1, 2 respectively, imo.

Crouch's snub is a shame.  If the conference only has 5 heisman winners, you better include all 5.

Austin checked in at number ten, and had 1932 total offensive yards, which included about 630 from rushing.  Crabtree had more yards receiving alone - against defenses that were probably better.  Ubben seems to love Austin because he was so versatile, and being able to rush and receive is definitely a nice thing to do, but Crabtree flat out accrued more yards as an offensive player.   Austin's numbers returning weren't bad either...he had two return TD's (1 PR, 1 KR), but he had 33 KRs, due mostly to the fact that WVU's defense was absolutely awful.  By comparison TLBL had 2 TDs off only 21 KR.

By no means am I saying that Austin isn't a great player, because he was.  He was a terrific WR, but putting him in at a RB and letting him gobble up yards doesn't necessarily make him more valuable to a team than Crabtree.  Crabtree was 5th in Heisman voting - Austin was 8th.  I'm only using Crabtree as a comparison here because he is (statistically) the best WR in Big 12 history, and he was left off the list.  But a strong case could also be made for guys like Bishop and Klein (who both finished 2nd in Heisman voting).

Like I said, Austin was a great player, but is probably a fringe top 15 player if we're talking about the history of the Big 12.

AD being high on the list is kind of suspect too.  He had a great freshman season, without a doubt the best freshman season any Big 12 player ever had, but in that season, he was arguably not even the best RB in the Big 12 - Cedric Benson won the Doak Walker that year.  He had fewer rushing yards than Sproles did in '03.  So I don't know.  Suspect.

I don't really take issue with any of the rest:

No. 3: Ndomukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
No. 4: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
No. 5: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
No. 6: Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
No. 7: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
No. 8: Jason White, QB, Oklahoma
No. 9: Roy Williams, S, Oklahoma
No. 10: Tavon Austin, WR/KR/RB/PR, West Virginia

man ISU fans are so butthurt when it comes to Ubben

http://www.widerightnattylite.com/2013/5/9/4315364/an-open-invite-to-david-ubben
DNO, but I am guessing a retort from Ubben could be, "I invite ISU to win a meaningful game and then I will make an appearance in Iowa on my ESPN pontoon boat."
