No, OSU's offense led to a Big12 Champ and BCS win.  OSU's defense survived.

OSU Pass Def Eff - #20 (115 YPG)
KSU Pass Def Eff - #76 (131 YPG)

OSU Run Def - #90 (184 YPG)
KSU Run Def - #37 (131 YPG)

OSU Tackle for Loss - #24
KSU Tackle for Loss - #92

OSU Def Sacks - #36
KSU Def Sacks - #84

OSU RZ Def - #12
KSU RZ Def - #77

I would say we "survived" pretty well.

I don't think you will find anybody who will tell you that K-State was better than OSU last year. You will find plenty of tards that think OSU had a bad defense, but those people aren't any dumber than OSU fans who think they won't miss a beat offensively this season. OSU is going to be very tough, mainly because they are returning a great defense, but they will not be nearly as good as they were last season.

I don't know of too many Cowboy fans (other than a few homers) that think we won't miss a beat on offense. In fact most true fans are thinking 8 wins and 9 with bowl.  This is if Wes plays well.  If not......well.....it's going to be a bad year for the Cowboys.  Gundy keeps saying that our offense won't change, but I think it will to a point.  Last year our pass set up our run.  This year, I think the running game will set up our passing game.

Compairing OSU's defense to KSU defense doesn't make your point.  KSU's defense didn't lead KSU to a 10-3 record and the Cotton Bowl last year either.  You said OSU's defense lead them to their record/bowl.  That's not true.  The offense clearly lead the way for the team.  OSU's defense is middle of the pack.  Middle of the pack defense's don't lead you to a 12-1 record.

KSU's defense didn't lead KSU to a 10-3 record and the Cotton Bowl last year either.

Well it wasn't your 101st ranked offense.  I think it was being fortunate in 7-8 games last year that led to that 10-3 record. Last season could've easily been a 3-4 win season for KSU.

You guys had a pretty good special teams too.  Clock management is where its at though.  If you can drive and hold the ball it keeps those Big12 quick strike offenses on the chalk.

"Fortunate" is just another way of saying we took advantage of opportunities. OSU won some close games that could have gone either way as well. A&M? Stanford? K-State?

We won a few more games in crunch time than you did, that's all.

Again, what does any of this have to do with your "OSU's defense will be good this year because OSU's defense lead the team to a Big12 championship and 12-1 last year" statement.  That divert by trying to put down KSU crap won't fly here.  JFC, did Beems decide he was going to create an OSU sock today?

21st in points per play, quit relying on tempo based stats that skew towards teams that pass the ball more and run no huddle.  Dumbass.

according to Ubben OSU will be pretty pud this year.

Quote
Kansas State 28, Oklahoma State 24: Kansas State nearly knocked off the title contender in Stillwater last season. Kansas State got better. Oklahoma State's not as good. Kansas State takes care of business in Manhattan this time around, keeping the ball out of the offense's hands. OSU's biggest strength on defense is at cornerback. Collin Klein takes advantage of its biggest weakness, the defensive line. Snyderball, baby.

No, OSU's offense led to a Big12 Champ and BCS win.  OSU's defense survived.

OSU Pass Def Eff - #20 (115 YPG)
KSU Pass Def Eff - #76 (131 YPG)

OSU Run Def - #90 (184 YPG)
KSU Run Def - #37 (131 YPG)

OSU Tackle for Loss - #24
KSU Tackle for Loss - #92

OSU Def Sacks - #36
KSU Def Sacks - #84

OSU RZ Def - #12
KSU RZ Def - #77

I would say we "survived" pretty well.

It was a bad choice of words.  What I meant was, the defense was "good enough" to win them a BCS bowl.  I wasn't insinuating that the defense won our games last year, it was definitely our offense.  However, our defense wasn't as bad as everyone thinks it was.  They keep looking at the 107th ranked Total Defense stats and say "OMG, they suck". What they don't take into account was the number of plays our defense was on the field.  It's not like our 1st team defense was playing four quarters and couldn't get the opposing offenses off the field.  We built up early leads this year and often and emptied the bench to get our backups some playing time.

1. Against ULaLa we played 2's/3's after going up 44-10 in the 3rd Qtr and the backups surrendered 24pts.

2. Against Arizona the starting defense only allowed 7pts through 3 Qtrs.

3. Tulsa game didn't kickoff until 12:15am and didn't end until 3:30am because of a rain delay.  Pokes up 45-6 in the 3rd Qtr. We knew Tulsa wanted to throw the ball so they sold out to stop the pass and force them to run.  OSU's 1st team defense forced 4 fumbles before halftime. Of the 365 rushing yards by Tulsa, only 108 were on the 1st team D.

4. Against A&M, Tannehill was their leading rusher. 7 carries for 69yds and a TD (65yds and the TD were on one busted play).  We were down 20-3 at the half, needless to say, the backup DE's got in the game on 3rd down.

5. Our 2's were on the field in the 2nd Qtr after we were up 42-7 against your in state rival Jayhawks. Our 3's and walkon's played after halftime and gave up 21pts enroute to a 70-28 win.

6. Weeden struggled in the 1st half against UT.  Similar to the A&M game, DE's/DT's were rotated often because UT was running between the tackles every play.  Some backups got rotated in but this 26pts given up fell soley on starters.

7. Against Mizz, Bill Young wanted them to force Franklin into throwing the ball (""They gave us what we had been working on all week," defensive end Jamie Blatnick said. "When we see what we've prepared for it works out for us.". Along with his 184yds passing he also accumulated 3 interceptions and lost a fumble.

8. Up 49-3 in the 3rd Qtr against Baylor we emptied the bench. 1st team defense held RG3 to 152yds passing, 2 interceptions, and 0 points in 1st half.  Backups giveup 273yds passing and 24 points in the 2nd half.

9. Klein went beast mode.  Nothing much to say about this.  We were fortunate he didn't connect on those last 3 passes inside the 5.  Because I KNOW, Snyder would've gone for the 2 on a QB keeper up the gut and would've scored.

10. Up 49-0 early in the 3rd, same as KU and emptied the bench.  2's/3's/walkons still held TT's offense to 0 points.

11. ISU game was well......

12. During Bedlam, Gundy substituted in the Seniors early in the 3rd after jumping out to a 44-3 lead.  Gave up 172 passing yards to Jones in 3 Qtrs while forcing 2 fumbles, recording 3 sacks and 1 interception.

As you can see our defense was actually quite good, when they played.  If you take out the garbage time yardage and points http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/feiyou would be quite suprised on how well our defense actually performed.  And to bring back as many starters we are, you can see why we are excited about our defense this year.

A little different:
OSU's close games: A&M #8, Stanford #4, K-State #14 (All three ranked top 15 when we played them)
KSU's close games: Eastern Kentucky, Miami, Baylor #15, Missouri, Texas Tech,  A&M, Texas #23, Iowa State

That's the point I was trying to make when they keep saying that OSU had the 107th ranked defense.  It is not a true measure for all teams.

I know why you guys went 10-3.  Special teams and Klein.  He's a fricken man beast.  You know where and when it's coming and you still can't stop it.
