I didn't like the last episode at all. I saw the review someone posted that thought Walt should have died alone in the car in Vermont and pretty much agreed.

the first half of season 5 was soooo much better than the second half other than the Hank/Walt moments.

I also don't get how they German company thing just ended with the guy killing himself. seemed lazy.

I liked the song at the end, but that's about the only thing that was really enjoyable about the last episode. All the characters that made the show interesting were basically gone or dead. I liked the Badger and Skinny Pete cameo, but that was just a temporary moment of enjoyment in an unfulfilling finale. It sucks that the only ones left to deal with for Walt were a gang of Johnny-come-lately neo-nazis that weren't established as characters all that well, nor were they particularly intimidating. Walt had dealt with much greater adversaries before, and it left me feeling like the show had gone out with a whimper.

Well put. Those Nazi yokels seemed too reckless to actually get anywhere

I think the creator really lost his vision at the end.  (I read that he wanted to kill Jesse, but the writers talked him out of it.  Who knows what else was changed?) Overall, it was like things just kept getting more and more mumped up as time went on from season to season and then everything flipped and was tidied up with a pretty action movie bow at the end.  It would have been much more bold to continue in the direction of making Walt totally unlikeable and then just have him die a miserable death or whatever.

I think part of the problem is that everything was wrapped up with a bow throughout the entire series, no loose ends, but they were always able to introduce another mumped up situation when we received closure on one of the plot lines. At the end though, all you could do was tie up loose ends, and it was just kind of boring without any new insanity added to the equation.

I love this quote.

Quote
the entire finale is a bit of a victory lap, one that ends with Walt walking fondly amongst his meth equipment like he’s goddamn Jean-Luc Picard on the bridge of the decommissioned Enterprise.

This was my thought at first, and I don't think I've posted my following thought because, until now, no one on goEMAW really criticized the ending. I think it makes sense that everything was tidier than usual, because this was the first time that Walt was unselfish. He was actually doing things for his family, and then for Jesse, instead of just for himself. Usually when Walt found a solution to a problem, it led to an even bigger problem because he had just been thinking selfishly and not how it would affect anyone else. The last episode showed his true potential to what he could have done if he actually had done things selflessly.

You are probably going to have to watch Better Call Saul if you want to see the scenes from the next Low Winter Sun episodes this year.

I was just always mad at it. I mean they made the first commercial break like 30 minutes in so you would have to wait forever to get the trailer for next week's BB episode. :curse: AMC. Please stop trying to make me pay attention to this show. I just wanna sit here and talk about Breaking Bad with my buds while we wait for Talking Bad.

not perfect at all, but about as close as a show has been and lol at everyone wanting the ending to be some kind of newhart dream sequence. sweet jesus. it ended because of what stevesie said. the guy spent some time, a lot of time, by himself and realized that he was a total selfish bad person. then he went about making it right.

the only thing that i really had a problem with in the show was when he sold jessie out in the desert when he was under the car and then later in letting them take him and torture and whatever. yeah hank just died or whatever but that wasn't walt. jessie was basically his son. he wouldn't have purposefully had him hurt/killed/whatever.
