On the topic of doing nothing at work, what's the best way to bbs on your phone at work. I usually lean it up against my keyboard, but then my neck hurts from looking so far down, suggestions?

Get dual monitors.  :users:
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Have this already, but I want to portray that I'm doing twice the work by having 2 spreadsheets open, plus I don't want to get flagged for being on the interwebs all day

Most work programs use the web to update information.  I doubt any bbsing you do would make enough of a difference to be a red flag.

saul, how do I make it so that when I have an excel sheet open and pop another one up it won't always open over the top of the first one unless I launch another blank excel session first?

I'm in the same boat kstate16.  Internship where my soon to be career is about making thing and people more efficient yet I could probably waste half my week and still get the same amount of productive work done. But I can almost always find something to be working on. They gave me a filler project to work on when I'm not working on other more important projects.

If you are in Excel and want to open a new file without it over the top of the first one,  hit "ctrl+o" > find the file you want to open > right click > open.  This will open it in a new session of Excel.

Not Saul, and not really sure what you are asking, but I do have some advice.  I always dual screen with separate sessions.

If you are in Excel and are opening an existing workbook hit "ctrl+o" > find the file you want to open > right click > open.  This will open it in a new session of Excel that you can easily drag and maximize on your 2nd screen.

If you are trying to open it from your desktop, the above doesn't work when you hover over the icon and right click > open.  That will just open it over your original spreadsheet in the same Excel session.  In this case it's faster to "ctrl+o" in excel > hit desktop in the selection box > right click > open.

In every scenario I can think of its just faster to click in your original excel session and "ctrl+o" > right click > open to open a file in a new session.

The only pain in the ass with doing this in 2 sessions is that it's a bitch to do a vlookup across sessions.  However, copying what you want to vlookup from and pasting in a new tab in the original workbook is 10 times easier than running 1 session, stretching it across 2 screens, and trying to resize 2 workbooks within that 1 session ob each screen.

I've been having this problem all summer.  It really pissed me off when I got to start > Programs > Micorsoft Office and excell and word are no where to be found so I can't even launch a new blank excel sheet without opening a flie that already exists.

Take what you have outside, set it on fire, ask for a new machine.
