Pretty hilarious moment where they had  a French guy Snapchat filter (beret and pencil mustache) on the jumbo Tron and put it on the China fan section so they all had berets and little moustaches

Towel kids had hilariously tiny towels. They were like shop towels and they ran out there two at a time with a towel in each hand and looked less efficient than the worst cleanup kid in American sports

As much silliness as there was it was so much fun. Lots of silly French fans, quite a few Chinese fans and a completely packed and rowdy atmosphere even though China smoked them. There were quite a few changes but French have dozens of songs that they will join in on after hearing like three seconds of it playing between points. I recognized maybe a third of them? Think like it they played a clip of Sweet Caroline that everyone joined in singing but they had like 15 versions. Every now and then one would be like a ballad lol. It was wild

I feel like when I was younger and watched gymnastics, the TV commentators would always be talking about how the gymnasts took a step or had a little hop when they landed. Like, literally ALL THE TIME. Like it was their favorite rough ridin' thing in the world to talk about. Now, they never, ever mention it.

Day 2!

High jumpers warming up! Honestly I could just watch them skip, they are so graceful and strong:

Ok this is total overload. 4 events going on at once: Hammer throw, 1500, high jump, and decathlon long jump. The high jumpers' approach is on the track and they are making attempts while the 1500 is going on

Got to see Sha'carri race

Also they had little RC cars to bring back the hammers from hammer throw. The throwers all spent a lot of time comparing hammers and picking the right one

That is really cool Rusty. Mrs SF actually asked me last night if I ever wanted to go to the Olympics and I said i wasn't really sure as i'd never really thought about it. What were the ticket fees like for the various events?

Pretty normal to lax compared to big sporting events. You can bring in food and water bottles and regular bags/backpacks. They are very organized/strict when it comes to funneling people to and from trains but overall goes pretty smoothly even though some events have led to really crowded stations.

One funny thing about security that I don't think I've seen is that they make sure any liquid you bring in is ok by making you take a drink of it for the security guy
