Been KC restauranting my face off lately:

Mesob w/ mocat before Jack White - he had the jambalaya, I had a tib platter w/ chicken, beef and lamb tibs, other buddy had goat curry - food was 7/7, bar was roflmao don't even ask
Chingu w/ mocat and chicat before Har Mar - wings, pork belly bo saam, galbi were all great 7/7
Char Bar w/ mocat and chicat - meat platter (ribs, turkey, burnt ends, sausage) 6/7
Campground w/ mocat and chicat - beef carpaccio, maitake mushrooms, steelhead trout 7/7
Q39 before My Morning Jacket - judge's plate (ribs, sausage, brisket) 7/7
Kata Nori - hamachi kama, seabream crudo, five handroll set 7/7
Meshuggah's Bagels - pastrami salmon w/ garlic herb schmear on everything bagel - 6/7
When were you at Q39? We were there on Sunday!
Week before past Monday

Anyone have any recommendations for dining in Independence? Going to the Sturgill show on Saturday and it's at the Cable Dahmer Arena
I have lived in Independence for two years now. Places i frequent are Tim’s Pizza (Cash or Check only) which is off of Highway 40 on the way to Cable Dahmer.
The Courthouse Exchange is downtown Independence proper but their service has been slow the last few times I have been but I have never been on a Saturday night.
Saints Pub is also close/just across the highway and has decent food. Its the same restaurant as the one in Olathe/Lenexa area if you have been to that one.

Might be worth it to go the extra mile or two down the road to Blue Springs. Would recommend Brewers or East Forty Brewing before the show. Both local and good food/brews.

I will also be at the show! Im very excited for it.

Ended up going to Jim's Alley Bar before (and after) the show. I had the Italian Beef/Sausage sandwich with hot peppers dipped. It was the best Italian Beef I've had outside of Chicago. Brunched at Char Bar in the AM and had the Burnt Heaven
these guys serve the realest beef heads that I know, including me

Not to be that guy, but Jim's is a rather sterile imitation of that style of bar, the authentic version of which we have plenty of in kc (strawberry hill in particular is loaded to the gills). I am glad Jim's exists tho.

i was just having fun with the idea that a place named “jim’s alley bar” would have more than one location and that one of the locations would be considered their flagship spot.

i’ll try out there beefs despite it being neither authentic, nor artisanal enough for our friend “mocat”.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the times I have spent there but I am only fortunate enough to visit KCMO(cat) so my knowledge of the metro is limited.

Jim's is a basically hipster VA bar with quality versions of older menu standards.  I enjoy it.

To each their own, but understand. Those are authentic and Jim's had to recreate it.
