Went to osteria bianchi recently up in Liberty, which I've never traveled to eat one time. It was fine, above average, good get for the northland. I won't be driving back to go there.

we went last summer and I thought it was probably the best authentic italian in town.  i’ve never been too impressed with farina tho.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

If someone was coming to KC from TX for the Chiefs game and only here for like 1 or 2 days max, where would you send them? They are driving to the game so I'm also wondering what the best location to stay is? Plaza would probably be the easiest and there are walking options and a straight shot to the stadium but the Plaza kinda sucks? Maybe stay at the plaza but Uber to Crossroads area? I can't decide since he is only going to be here for like 1 day.

Going to the stadium from downtown isn't bad either. Talking food and staying downtown, drive over to SLAPS

Depends on what they want to do the night before. If they want to go out to some brewery's and bars then just stay in the crossroads. If they just want to go out for a meal then Plaza would be fine.

Thanks. Not exactly sure what they want to do. I don't know if they are drinkers. The game is the biggie and they aren't here long enough to do much else. I'm going to recommend the plaza since they can walk around, hit Jack Stack, Graham and Dunn or whatever. I'm also sending them the crossroads kc link in case they want to hit breweries. I told them it really doesn't matter where they stay since it's all close.

As long as they accept that they're best off staying nowhere near the stadium, they'll be fine.  If they want downtown or crossroads, the Hotel Indigos are a good mix of price/quality.

Lot of menus aren't up yet it seems. Ocean Prime looks like a good snag.

The fast food Mexican place at 85th and wornall is pretty decent

For a second I thought you were talking about Chellys Cafe which was a go to lunch margs spot when I worked in that area. Had to do some quick Google maps recon and saw that the old Strips Chicken place is now "Abelardo's" which is a Mexican chain from the hotbed of Mexican cuisine.....Omaha NE.
Manhattan just got an Abelardo's and it is hot garbage. We call it AbelarDONT'S 😂

We also got one of those where I live.  Everyone was telling me how good it is.  I went on the 2nd day they were open and it was terrible.  I figured maybe they sucked because they had just opened and were trying to figure out how to add seasoning to their food still.  So I went back a few months later, and I am convinced that everyone in town is punking me.

Going to Tavernonna during restaurant week. Should I expect it to be any different than a regular week?

I generally find the resturant weeks to be the shittier version of the place, so good luck.

The wife and I did Kata Nori for lunch last week.  It's the best sushi I've had in KC although I haven't been to many higher-end sushi places here.  Their little sides/sharing dishes were every bit as good as the sushi and more interesting.  They had a trumpet mushroom crudo dish that was excellent and unique.

I liked Kata Nori a lot when I went. If you want to really ball out you should make a reservation at Sushi Kodawari sometime. It's omakase style and there are only eight stools in the whole place.

Anybody been to Tayvis' favorite, Noka?

Trying J. gilberts for restaurant week. I don't expect a lot from that place and some southern friends wanted to meet so their menu looked okay.

Noka is very good but also pricey with smallish portions when I went (pretty close to opening so a lot may have changed).  My wife and I spent $150 or so with only one cocktail, which was very good, and still left hungry.  I've seen them do some pretty unique special dinners before too but haven't hit one.  It's good enough that I'll go back at some point but it's more for special occasions for us at that price point.

My restaurant week go-to is always J Gilbert’s because it’s just their usual prix fixe menu, which is typically of acceptable quality.
