i go there to pak from time to time, have eaten there once. the food was nothing remarkable.  i'd say it's your average boutique hotel food.

they have live jazz there

Holy hell, I went to Avenues Bistro yesterday for the first time, and it was a crazy experience. I honestly felt so bad for the staff. Whoever the manager was putting together the staff schedule for 12/26 is a dumbass. There was one server for the front (my guy), 1 for the back, which there was a huge party, and 1 bartender (who was super stoned and lazy AF). There was also no hostess. Anyways, my guy was sweating his ass off because he was running like 12 tables and doing everything. The waitress in the back was seen in the backroom crying, because that huge party was filled with a crap ton Johnson County Bitches. Like, this girl (typical blonde with her face pulled back) came up to the bar to bitch about the service like a million times and made a scene. They ended up just taking everything off of her ticket.

I felt bad, so I tipped something like 35-40% and wrote the guy a note, to let him know how well he did for the situation and it wasn't his fault they were understaffed. I use to really like those notes and over tips when ppl could see I was having a bad day. Also, it was so awkward to watch ppl walk in the doors and then wait to be seated, trying to be patient, but wondering when the eff someone would come up to them. I started telling ppl just to seat themselves and they'll get to you as soon as they can.  Holy nightmare!

I might give it one more shot, but I was not impressed with their lunch menu.

They have a decent happy hour. Basically the only time I would consider going there.

That experience sounds pretty terrible, wacky. Maybe they had some staff no show?

I brought that up as possible scenario to Mrs Wacky. That would make a lot of sense, with it being the day after Christmas.

Just got back from a nice little evening out on the beautiful country club plaza, punctuated by a pretty good dinner at Chaz on the Plaza.

I'd say the food was a notch above typical boutique hotel food. On Tuesdays they have a price fixe menu that includes two apps, two entrees, a dessert, and a bottle of wine for $90. Pretty good deal IMO.

Anyways, I'd give it a 5.25/7. Would go back.

Which reminds me, right around the corner is The Classic Cookie. Very small space to eat inside, but we have carried out their breakfast a couple times. It's money.

Gave up on classic cookie about a year ago. Had been there 4 or 5 times. Always took 30-40 min to get food, which is absurd for breakfast. Like the spot, just not enough to wait that long for some scrambled eggs.

The owner of that place use to buy radio advertising from me. For what station do you ask? A classical music AM radio station.  Sweet lady tho. I got her kids internships at 96.5 the buzz.

Hmm. Have only carried out. So wait wasn't an issue. What's your primary Sunday brunch?

Summit is a pretty standard brunch. Bottomless mimosas. Honestly don't go out much for brunch/bfast. Most of it I can make better at home.

hmm, I have been going there for years and it is always relatively quick but we almost always order muffins or cookies as an app.  The Potato and Sausage casserole is worth almost any amount of waiting

Is Succotash any good? Eating there tomorrow morning.

Favorite Chinese in the Metro?

Bo Lings is always great...we take it for granted....many midwest cities do not have anything close to as good as Bo Lings.  However, I really like Dragon Inn, in Old OP.
