Cashew rough ridin' sucks. Ale House isn't bad. Overpriced, but so is/was the Cashew.

Ale House is so bad. I mean, they charged cover for the World Series. eff that noise.

you're joking that they charged a cover to watch a game on tv. also you're joking that people paid that

It wasn't packed but there was a decent crowd. We walked up before game 1 because we liked how many tv's they had and the bouncer said $5 cover. We immediately went to Mccoys

they were charging cover on a normal weekend night last month and my group said no way and went somewhere else.

was guns n roses having a reunion inside? i don't get that. a cover to a bar? i see people pay it at the well all the time and think they are completely stupid and I'm right when I have those thoughts.

The Quaff charges cover on the weekend and it's a giant crap hole. So does Kelly's, etc. Weird thing to hate them for. Everyone was out watching the Royals. Make that $!

i'm kind of with wacky. if they can charge $5 cover on a given night and still pack the place, they should do it. but i will likely choose to go elsewhere.

I mean, sure as a capitalist I'm fine with it. But anyone who pays to go to a bar without live music or some pay per view event is dumb

Yeah, paying to get in is really stupid, but i'm not going to hate them for it. I'm just going to choose another bar.

just seems weird to me. paying a cover to get into a bar unless there is live music in there

I would pay $5 specifically to avoid going into a bar with live music.  But that's besides the point.

I guess I can understand it seeming weird if you're not used to it, but if you want to go to a particular bar, paying an extra $5 shouldn't deter you.  It's $5.

$5 cover isn't a bad thing, but it is pretty dumb when it's the world aeries and every bar in town is showing it without a cover

going to kelly's, let alone paying to go to kelly's?  none of it makes any sense.
the place is a shithole.

I didn't realize it at the time but the restaurants/bars in KC are just so bad.

i think that's it. usually don't go to Ale House for a special reason, it just happens to be in westport. the amount that i like Ale House is not significantly better enough to be worth paying $5 compared to the other no-cover bars within very short walking distance.

DLew, you're missing the point. we're talking about shitty generic bars, surrounded by other bars that do not charge covers.

I've only been to Ale House twice but I remember liking it quite a bit.

That said, if two identical bars are right next to eachother and all else is equal, of course I'd go to the one not charging the cover.

The Western Kansas Saloon & Grill in Wakeeney KS has excellent prime rib.

Woody's in Pratt's prime rib is not very good at all.

renocat, is that you?

You want a steak?  Head to Gellas in Hays.

Am I wrong for thinking that promoting a World Series watch party and charging a cover is violation of MLB copyright laws?
