Kona use to be my date spot (I have no clue if it's actually good sushi comparatively). We go to Nara a lot downtown too.

Tried both on back-to-back nights my most recent trip to KC. Kona had the better sashimi, Nara was a more fun place.

There is a surprisingly good sushi place in Olathe (non-sketchy part, 151st street). It's called NIJI Sushi and the 3 people that run it are very nice. They also put a lot of effort into the presentation which is appreciated.

really happy about this. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for GOx even though the food was pretty terrible last few times I ate there. just too much history to piss away.

an acquaintance that i've known for several years owns minsky's (and osteria and eggtc).
the 39th location was a franchise location. apparently the franchisee was not honoring the contract and the owner wanted him out for a while.
every time i drove down 39th, i wondered what the guy did.

$6 for one doughnut and espresso at Doughnut Lounge this morning. Doughnut was still good (oreo stuffed) but I don't think this will be a place I regularly visit. Only had 7 varieties.

Will probably stick to Filling Station.

anybody rocking restaurant week? so far, have had:

Jax Fish House & Oyster bar - 6/7
Aixois - 4/7 food was fine, they weren't prepared for packed house at lunch though, very slow
Novel - 7/7 outstanding
Capital Grille - 6/7
