they were all just mhs townie highschool football players. obviously some were recruited and some were donors kids. most weren't. i'm good friends with one who was neither, but whose job was to microwave fballs on cold days and then send them on the field when it was sean snyders turn to punt.

That game was the most angry I ever got at SleepMom in my whole life.  When NTSU scored their late TD to take the lead SleepMom let out with a huge gale of nervous laughter.  15yo me did not understand/approve of her coping mechanism and was pissed

Carl Straw and Frank Hernandez probably prevented me from running away from home that night.

Thanks fellas!

I really love these stories of young EMAWs.  Love them I tell you.  One of the many reasons I read goEMAW.

yeah. i thought about that colorado game too. i was so mad at the time but kind of understood. tying colorado was an accomplishment. that one handed lockett catch.

Yes, it was the oddest mixture of disappointment and happiness that I have ever had after a K-State game.

hmm, was that the same game?

yeah.

i remember the catch, was there.  (icat).

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Would be nice if someone could put together a film solely about the 89 wild wildcats and do a "where are they now" type of deal, kind of like the end of Friday Night Lights or something.
Like show Hernandez catching the ball for the winning score, then show him pushing papers at a used car dealership and get a few quotes from him, etc.   I neeeed to know what Straw is doing with himself now. Like really really need to know. TIA.

I'm really happy we broke our losing streak against these dorks (North Texas). However, _FAN please break down Straws 5 step drop for me. It looks so awkward.

Also, 17-14 we were down. Fourth and 4? No kicking a FG? Am I showing my age? Was there no overtime back then? I see the highlight real over and over at the stadium as the start of Bill's greatness, but I guess I don't know why we didn't kick a FG, unless we were so sick of losing and didn't want to go to OT.

Never seen this. We've come a long way.

And lol the Wabash being played as the students are hustling off the goal posts.

The part I chuckled at the most is how 84 just stands at the end of the o-line with his hands on his hips and gassed. He could not look less ready to make an athletic play.

Yeah, I believe daris is the one who explained. After losing that many games in a row, you don't go for the tie (there was no OT).
