At some point I was climbing a fence (at least this is how I remember it) and we were trying to get the goal post over it. It was very iffy. I think it was this game. I lived down the street at the time, and I would just walk in during the second half without a ticket if it looked like we had a chance to win. We usually got absolutely killed back in the day (as you know).

it was policy back then that anybody who wanted to could get in free at halftime and usually much, much sooner if you just asked politely.

I almost got killed by that goal post.

I'm part of the crowd carrying the north goalpost down the field.   :comeatme:  #obz

Our QB looked ridiculous dropping back. Why did he back pedal like that?

Because Snyder's offense back then was way more pass oriented and Carl Straw couldn't out run a aloth,  they wanted him to see the whole field,  and see the rush better so he could get rid of the football.

Old KSU Kat games all have weird-ass drop-backs that make me LOLWTF.
CCQ would've been a monster in that era of weird dropbacks.

As it was, he ended his SR season with one of the best passer ratings in K-State history.  :gocho:

Right, I'm just saying that I to picture CCQ with that style of backpeddle, pumping the ball like a rabid pendulum across his chest.

7-10 yr old me lived in jardine while my dad was in school.  half-time policy was da best.

i also used to sneak onto the practice fields on my walk to marlatt ele school, there was a hole in the fence.   :peek:

Why wasn't a FG contemplated?

it was before overtime was invented and kstate hadn't won a game in like thirty games. no way were they going to take a tie.

I get that, but thought it was weird that not even Mitch had a "Cats need a FG to tie and a TD to win" at any point.

I believe our FG kickers absolutely blew back then.   They had a hard time making extra points.

guys-

we hadn't won a game in like thirty games. there was a tie in there though. it was a thirty game non winning streak. we could've had the best field goal kicker in the history of the world and there would've been a 0% chance that we would've kicked a field goal. 0%. it wasn't even an option. they needed to win a game. a tie would've been just as bad as a loss.

I was just giving another reason of the 15 bajjilliongazzillion why they didn't try a FG.
