Dear KUers: would you be down with playing a season or two of games in KC if they meant a complete demo of Memorial and then a new stadium built right there?

Yes, but then again I don't live in the KC metro like the rest of the circle jerkers.  Shoot, we should play at Livestrong, that way it will sell out and actually be a cool environment.  Of course, the business types won't like this idea.

BSFS does look nice and i'm sure it'll be pretty badass when completed. I agree with everyone, Memorial in lawrence needs a big revamp and it's getting there, Weis even said the other day that he has seien some of the plans. The really only good thing about it is the location, it's on campus and has a damn nice view. Rumors are the estimated cost of the Memorial upgrades is going to be around $150 million. So i'm expecting quite a bit of things to be done and should be pretty nice when completed.

Every pic KU fans use to brag about their stadium is a view pointing away from the field with very little of the facilities in it.

Campus and hill tho

I like places that have a bit of character... a bit of charm to them.  Anyone can plop some new stadium in the middle of a field and surround it with a bunch of parking lots.  KU's stadium is in a great location with a beautiful setting, and it's completely unique to KU.  Future improvements are on the way, and when they're finally completed, KU is going to have one of the best all around stadiums in the country.  You guys can have the hole in the ground surrounded by sheep pens, parking lots, and a harley track.

To be honest, this talking point dies as soon as you see a game in Boulder.

After that, every other stadium is sitting in, or around, a pile of crap.

Beems is so butthurt that BSFS is so much nicer than Memorial. Anyone who tries to convince people that Memorial is better than BSFS is pathetic.

What is wrong with having the stadium surrounded by parking lots? It creates a a great tailgating atmosphere that KU can't even come close to competing with.

This discussion is similar to Municipal Stadium vs. Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs.  If you enjoy parking in yards, praying for a spot on the street, and meeting friends in the stadium vs. tailgating with them, Municipal was an OK sports venue.  Of course, you also dealt with a stadium that had fewer amenities, poorer seating, and other drawbacks.  Arrowhead Stadium overcame those drawbacks.  Memorial Stadium for KU is like Municipal Stadium was for the Chiefs.  As for "character" and "charm", those are terms that realtors use to describe properties that are old and decrepit, and have little going for them.  So, I do agree with your use of those adjectives.

Arrowhead Stadium has huge parking lots, allowing tailgating, and meeting with friends hours before game time.  BSFS is like Arrowhead Stadium, but it's still on campus.  K-State is making better improvements to BSFS than the Chiefs made to Arrowhead, and doing it for less money.  I know it sucks to be stuck in Memorial Stadium while the 'Cats move on to bigger and better things, but a basketball-first school, by necessity, makes trade-offs.  One of them is playing in a sucky stadium widely acknowledged as being one of the poorest venues in Div I football.
