I would tend to agree.  College football is at least 10 times the importance of men's basketball.  Baseball is probably 1000 times more important than women's track.

I just checked "these" stats.  They ARE accurate.

Pretty amazing that a standard year for KU athletics would be the best year in K-State athletics history.  It's actually kind of sad when you really stop and think about it.
20/25 in baseball

15/19 in football

What do you call that?

Beems Beems Beems.........

It is going to be tough for you to watch our Football and Baseball dominance continue over the next few years.

I know I am real tough on oscar Weber but I would rather watch our Missouri Valley Basketball than the Pee Wee league crap that Charlie Weiss will continue to put on the field. They should really rename Memorial Stadium as it is a big disservice for America's vets to be associated with Hawk Football.

Snyder looking at 2 trophies in a row and Baseball isn't even done with this year.

Beems get professional help.... drugs and alcohol aren't the answer.       :billdance:

In a few years when football falls off and becomes a hobby sport and basketball becomes the premiere sport in America, a lot of you dorks are going to feel pretty silly.

then basketball will fall off and it will just be 24/7 womens track (indoor and outdoor).

this situation probably ranks higher than gameday trees on K-State's list of nightmare situations.

I think what this really means is that John Currie needs to run out and take out a $39 million dollar loan, then enter into a 50 year lease with a 3rd party (30 year payments of about $1.3 million, then FMV for the next 20) for a new outdoor track.   Allow that 3rd party to control nearly all revenue producing aspects of the facility, and also allow that 3rd party to use that facility for any event that they wish as long as it doesn't conflict with a K-State event.    Then add the cherry on top by agreeing to an extremely nebulous "escrow account" with the 3rd party which will place as yet undefined profits "aside" for future maintenance.

I think that's pretty much what needs to happen given that track and field is going to dominate the college sports landscape in the future.

That requires a pretty optimistic revenue outlook for an outdoor track, unless it could be configured as an outdoor concert venue or something like that.

we have a ways to go to catch up to the hawks. i was at the state meet this morning to watch my nephew run in the 4X100m prelims(he's the anchor ) and noticed a TON of KU gear around the shot put ring when the 2A girls were tossing the ball around. being dominant in lady track requires a grassroots effort and we all need to get our asses involved. go cats.

Locking in at $1.3 million over the course of 30 years saves KU millions of dollars (present value vs. future value, inflation rate savings).  Also, the university doesn't have to change any bylaws by leasing the complex to a private corporation.  Alcohol sales and concert events will all be within code, and also, the complex is going to have a public recreational facility, as well as multiple other sports facilities.  It's not just for the track & field programs.
