Look, if Beems legitimately thing Memorial is as nice as BSFS then I can't help him.  You can't win an arguement with that type of stupidity.

The stadium itself isn't as "nice" as BSFS.  The campus location is better, and the tailgating experience is just as good when KU doesn't go 2-10.  If and when Memorial undergoes another renovation, I personally believe it will be one of the better gameday experiences in the country.
Heh. Pitt St. arguably has a better tailgating environment than KU.  What exactly is so appealing about KU's gameday environment?  It has never been good, you have nothing to base this potential "better gameday experiences in the country" except your astronomical level of butthurt.  I went to KU for 4 yrs.  Saturdays in the fall were horrendous.  Granted that was at the end of Glen Mason era, but I've been back for several events in the past few years, including 2007 and 2008, and there's absolutely no way you can objectively make the claims you're attempting to make.

To each their own, I guess.  I have a good friend who went to Oklahoma State, and she always comes back to Lawrence to tailgate for a football game.  I guess some people enjoy tailgating in places other than a giant, generic parking lot (surrounded by cow pastures and sheep pens).

Number?

Probably somewhere in the 40's.

I think BMW likes the experience because he likes the Jayhawks. He loves his team and that's fine.

I think Bramlage is better than AFH.

Yea this the only truth in this thread.
Every fan thinks their school and it's buildings and it's teams are the greatest.
This is what makes college sports so great.  Because fans from different fanbases have all had different experiences and perspectives.
Every fan thinks their fight song is the greatest.  And who cares who is the greatest.  We're all unique and we all have unique traditions.  And that's ok.

I definitely don't think our fight song is the greatest.

So beems whole argument to defend KU's stadium has nothing to do with the rough ridin' stadium at all?

Shocking.

I'd take KSU's Memorial Stadium over KU's.

Some schools are able to build no facilities and some are forced to keep their old ones and claim tradition.

Tradition is earned on the court/field. AFH isn't considered great by some because of the building. It's the games played inside.

Beems is the biggest rough ridin' idiot on this board. It's not even close. His light is far too slight to outshine his dark.

There's a difference between a rational/realistic fanbase and one that drinks the koolaide. You can tell this difference by strolling goEMAW and the phog in one day.

(1) On campus location right next to a bunch of bars and student housing.
(2) Tradition
(3) Hills
(4) Beautiful women
(5) The absence of pig crap and other farm animal crap in the air
(6) A press box that stretches from 20 to 20, not some little midget box like K-State's
(7) Orange Bowl trophies
(8) A brand new $35 million football complex
(9) Potter Lake
(10) Places to tailgate other than a giant parking lot

1. next to two bars, the rest are a rough ridin' hike.
2.  :flush:
3. South and North Dakota are rough ridin' sweeeet too!
4. *infested women
5. I'd rather smell $$$ than the nauseating odor coming from the laundry pile (read: used toilet paper) in Manginos errrrr Weis' office.
6. crap, you got us.......WAIT. I think there's a thread where you could go educate yourself on this topic.
7. Wait, you guys bought more than one in 08? weird
8. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
9. Potter Pond*
10. Places to tailgate in our awfully organized parking lots. "We have a hill though!"

I don't dislike it, but I can admit that it's just not as good as other schools' fight songs, like CU or Tennessee.

Glen Mason asked for a football complex like Vanier in 1995 (it was actually after the Bowl Season of 1992, but most phognet talking points tend to forget that) . . . had he stayed around THIRTEEN more years, he would have gotten it . . . Mangino re-asked for one in 2002.

I'm sure oscar Weber will put the new basketball facility to good use.  All of those 2 and 3-star recruits won't know what to do with themselves once they get a glimpse of that place.

you guys have signed a few good ones lately...and will probably always out recruit us in bball.

for the sake of your audacity, remind yourself of the unrated, 0 star prospects you've signed lately and the 3 stars and awkward transfers you've had in your rotation. eff OFF YOU HYPOCRITE!

Asking for a pic of a halfway "mentally slower" person is creepy, Ben.

No it's not, Heath.  I wanted the picture so I could show just how beautiful BSFS was from the cow pastures.  Had nothing to do with that weird guy that scrounges around K-State sporting events.  Move along now.

Why did you include his name in your request on phog?

Because he's featured in the foreground of the picture, genius.

You really don't know that is a photoshop?  WTF dude?

Tailgating was invented for giant generic parking lots, otherwise it would just be called grilling your backyard.

Or frontyard, when LSOC rolls up on Daris' lawn.

guess who got some new Mickey T's for the spring game!?  I hope Daris over seeded.

Yes I know it's photoshopped.  That's what makes it great.  The cow pasture and the hideous stadium in the background puts the icing on the cake.

Visitors/Guests are generally polite people often prone to tell their hosts exactly what they want to hear.   Visitors/guests to Lawrence/ku are usually more sophisticated than their hosts, and thus the visitor/guests sense their host’s extreme need to be validated and affirmed.

IMO I think K.U has left the track in place because they knew Front Butt was coming to save thier program and the track allowed better access for his Hoverround.

went to Memroial last season to witness the slaughter........anyway, after the video board intro, the KU team and coaches run through  a blow up red archway and take the field.........you could hear the compressor running to keep the damn thing from collapsing.........i wondered to myself, if the KU players were embarrassed or even knew what a joke that was

true story.

They have speakers in front of student section, sitting on the track, to amplify the band.

I like the historic chain link fence on field level behind the track. Keeps the tradition of high school that a lot of these kids grew up with. I wonder how many BCS schools have a track around their field or a chain link fence exit right there at field level
