Boo-birds come out in full force following poor play, students are mostly disengaged, and the crowd has a tendency to leave the game well before the clock hits all zeros. Also, noise levels and fan passion in general "" even in the Mangino-era "" were hampered by a track that surrounds the playing surface and keeps fans far away from the action.
Why put any money into a program for these kinds of fans?QuoteBoo-birds come out in full force following poor play, students are mostly disengaged, and the crowd has a tendency to leave the game well before the clock hits all zeros. BSFS does look nice and i'm sure it'll be pretty badass when completed. I agree with everyone, Memorial in lawrence needs a big revamp and it's getting there, Weis even said the other day that he has seien some of the plans. The really only good thing about it is the location, it's on campus and has a damn nice view. Rumors are the estimated cost of the Memorial upgrades is going to be around $150 million. So i'm expecting quite a bit of things to be done and should be pretty nice when completed.

So is this the ultimate goal for Memorial Stadium?

Football's method for deciding "national scale" is significantly different from basketball. ku had one fluke season and then immediately plummeted back to reality as the worst football program in the Big 12 and you guys are going to cling to that for all its worth because that's all the rare ku football fan has, 2 good seasons in the last 45, 2007 and 1995.

I think that's a worthy goal. They could always tear down and build this though too... I that stadium. Favorite in college football.

Memorial is a war memorial and there isn't really anywhere to build a new stadium except where the current one sits

2x the amount of press. Good press too! None of that half-assed mediocre press.
i agree...it would cost probably $250mil+ for a new stadium and KU would probably have to play a season in Arrowhead, blah!
