I think the last time I was in chitown (Chicago for nonelites) that's where I went.

8mp or anyone who'd be there going into the first weekend of November - if I have to go to this place that Wednesday night through Friday noon, worth sticking around Friday afternoon/night and maybe even into Saturday to pak and then fly out Saturday morning?  My happiness is as simple as pounding pitchers of beer at snickers, but more is cool too.  Pounding a pitcher or two less would probably be fine on Thursday night instead/also.
I’m busy Friday, but if you stick around Saturday, I’d go watch the cats pound the ‘Hawks

Is there somewhere to watch the sunflower showdown  this weekend with fellow cats?
:eye:

Murphy’s Bleachers used to be the place. It appears that they have done watch parties there recently.  I’d go meet up.

I don't have to do this anymore.  I know I'd be fine around locals and probably on a flight between Chicago and Seattle, but I'm still not ready to do unnecessary travel/conferences that will have me around loads of people that I can't know are vaccinated.

After I posted, I'd found Local H is playing at Metro that Thursday night and would've gone to that.  Go for me!  It was a great time when they played here in a smaller club like that in the before times.

Doing a quick date trip without kids with Mrs. CF3 this week. Looking for tips. Staying at Hyatt Regency Downtown, not renting a car just using transit or Lyft

Places we've liked in Chicago in the past:
Shaw's Crab House
Green Mill
Andy's Jazz Club
Second City

Loose Itinerary
Sunday:
3:00 PM Arrive. Check into hotel, probably walk along the river/lake. Enjoy freedom from children.
6:00ish PM Dinner. Currently have a reservation at Sienna Tavern which had good reviews, open to suggestions. This is more of a date night kind of vibe.
9:00 PM Show at the Laugh Factory

Monday:
The day will be pretty chill and I'm open to suggestions. Not looking to do museums or tours but really just looking forward to a relaxed vibe. Mrs. CF3 and I really enjoy checking out independent record stores and coffee shops on trips like this. Not opposed to a museum but if we hit one up we're looking for like a small art museum. Probably won't do a huge meal during the day but will snack and grab stuff as we go.

Neighborhoods to check out? Hidden gems?

4:30-5:00ish PM Probably will head south to China Town and grab some Dim Sum. Other option I was considering is Ricobene's because Steve Albini went there with Anthony Bourdain  :frown:
7:00 PM Royals @ White Sox

Tuesday:
Grab a coffee and fly home.

Thoughts?

At one point I saw pictures of hot tub boats in the river. Could be some fun people watching.

I'm told the Italian beef (sandwich) is the true signature dish of Chicago. Al's Beef and Portillo's seem to be mentioned the most. I'd go to Al's.

This place is also money for breakfast/brunch. I’ve only been to the one across from the bean but highly recommend.

One of those 2 architecture boat tours was a lot better than the other. It was the one we were on for the big mod PAK and not the one we went on during the tbt PAK.
