But I get that people want them gone now, and that's not likely going to change. It is what it is.

If Weber leads KSU to the NCAA tournament the next 3 years I'm betting it will change dramatically.  Agree though that is not likely.

if he couldn't lead a team with 9 top 100's ,included a seven foot soon to be first round draft pick, to the tournament during his last year at illinois, then why would anyone think that he'll lead a single team after next years team back to the tournament. also next year is in limbo when someone announces that angel rodriguez is not coming back, or as oscar likes to call him, angel hernandez.

I don't understand how he'll all of a sudden be able to reach and motivate now in mhk either.

There are plenty of legitimate talking points against both Weber and Lowry, namely the losses and offensive issues.

The talking points from "bad" radio interviews from either are ridiculous though. Both guys are selling what they are bringing to the program and that should be expected. Weber's interview was okay, I thought Lowry's was pretty good. He's made the best points I've heard yet in the necessity for next year's team to get to the FT line and the importance of the next recruiting class.

But I get that people want them gone now, and that's not likely going to change. It is what it is.

I reserve the right both to nitpick until he proves me wrong AND remind people he's a loser as long as people are saying we should give him a chance.

Fair enough, that right is absolutely yours. I can disagree with the ridiculous implications you take from radio interviews though.

To be fair, what exactly have I suggested that is ridiculous? Is it ridiculous to think this staff watched some tape, had a couple workouts, noticed the offense wasn't real "fluid", and decided they can coach offense better? Is it ridiculous to think Weber won't change anything from what he did at Illinois when I haven't heard him acknowledge a single thing he did wrong there?

I think its a reach to say Lowry was trashing Frank and his offense. I think Lowry made a great point that one of the offensive keys is getting to the FT line next year.

I don't think Weber is great in these interviews, but I don't think he is as terrible as you are making him to be. I don't disagree that he could make some more concessions about the issues he had at Illinois, especially last year, but I also think he realizes his offense has to be better to win (and keep his job) at K-State. He's simply trying to sell himself in these things and some of his points aren't very good, but Frank had lots of terrible talking points too. Pretty much all coaches have terrible talking points at times when being interviewed.

I don't think he was trashing the offense, I just didn't think he sounded like he had a clue how good it really was. He specifically mentioned how they will create more easy baskets for the team (granted, he mentioned using turnovers to do this in addition to actual offense). I'm sorry if I don't have faith in the man with the 9th best offense in the Valley coming in and creating more easy baskets.

I haven't even commented on his "talking points", other than him claiming he had the best 9 year run in Illinois history. I really haven't.

I just don't think it's asking too much for Weber to actually know the names of the players on his own rough ridin' team. When he said "Jordan Hernandez" everything else he said ceased to matter.

That was bad, no doubt. Bad immediate PR with K-State fans.

In the grand scheme of things for his career at K-State though? Meaningless.

Who the hell is Chris Lowery to suggest they will be able to get easy bucket :sdeek:s when Martin couldn't?

At illinois the last 5 years we couldn't get those baskets.  We averaged less than one fastbreak a month.

You can already see the signs of Weber's demise.  You don't want the kinds of recruits who will play for someone who can't care enough to learn their name.

But Weber's friends and family think he's a great coach. So he's got that going for him.

Would you say he is establishing a trend of bad PR in dealing with the media?  I think there is a track record in this regard.  Another layer of oscar being oscar.  He's going to suck in interviews, or when he doesn't completely suck he will never be captivating or noteworthy.  We knew he was never going to have Frank presence, but I think we've gone to one of the worst public speaking BCS college head coaches (at least that I've heard).  I mean look at you in this thread _FAN.  You're treating him like the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) kid down the block.  Throwing compliments his way for speaking somewhat coherently.

Do you really believe oscar's dealings with the media have no bearing (are no indication) of what kind of coach he is/will be?

Yeah, but we got to the f-ing FT line at will, bro.  Wait....

yeah. i'm sure a top returning senior on the team, that had met with his new head coach multiple times, loved having his actual name substituted with a different name. that inspires confidence. at least he got jordan right and didn't call him miguel.

The KGSO afternoon guys re-aired the morning interview.  I missed it initially, but he also referred to "Muh-tavious".  Maybe I'm nitpicking, but it absolutely boggles my mind that he's this lackluster in attention to detail in memorizing simple NAMES of "his" players, all the while speaking of "earning the respect of the players by showing you care" within the same interview.  What a fece-face.

"Muh-tavious" is like Frank saying "As-per-illa". Mispronouncing really isn't that big of a deal. Replacing a last name with a completely different last name is pretty bad, though.
