I guess what I'm saying is that maybe they thought with Angel starting for the next 3 years that Gray would no longer want to come here and be a 3 year backup. I'm not trying to defend anyone, I'm just saying that it seemed (at the time, and especially now) that Orris was recruited as a warm body for a year.
This really doesn't make sense though. This past year oscar had Tay to back up Angel and Will. He didn't need a warm body. Next year with Tay gone and Thomas unavailable until second semester is when oscar needs Orris. They got rid of him right before he would actually be useful. Who the hell spells Angel? EMAPE? Spradling pulling double duty? Can you imagine the offense with a backcourt
of Omari, Will and a true frosh Foster on the floor at times? That reeks of shitty Illinois guard play of recent vintage.
The focus has been about the defense next year, but as a Chingon's chart shows offense was oscar's weakness. As an adopted KSU purple cats' men's hoops observer that's bigger than possible defensive woes in my eyes. The bright side is that it's only temporary with Thomas waiting in the wings for conference play.
