Trivia Time!

See if you can identify these 2 coaches by the results of their last season in a BCS conference:

Coach A) 2 games over .500 overall, 6 conference wins, finished 9th in conference, beat conference champ during regular season.

Coach B) 2 games over .500 overall, 6 conference wins, finished 9th in conference, beat conference champ during regular season.

No guesses? Okay, I'll just go ahead and give the answer.

Coach A, as you probably guessed, is new K-State coach oscar Weber.

Coach B is this guy:

So congratulations on rehiring Jim Wooldridge, John Currie!

Actually, I'm not being fair...

Wooldridge actually had 2 fewer conference losses and thus a better conference winning % in his last year than Weber did. And he's beaten Bill Self.

Currie reminds me of our ex-AD, Ron Guenther.  He got burned by a couple of coaches that left so now he wants the "safe" hire.  The guy who will never leave (no matter how much you want him too).  I understand the meltdowns but a lot of your success or failure next year will be in how much of your current team stays and how much they buy in to Weber's system... such as it is. You guys have one heck of a point guard, something Weber could never recruit at Illinois and that's key to his motionless offense.

Sorry guys, I'm trying to find the silver lining for you, I really am.

I assume you're referring to Angel, in which case I must inform you there is a 0% chance he stays.

And about a 90% chance he becomes a Gamecock.

:opcat: :opcat: :opcat:

There is a better chance he stays than there is that he follows Frank. He is going to end up at Louisville.

I have cherished the resurgence of EMAW hoops.  It's been indescribable for me how much I have loved it.

I have no way to completely describe how much I am saddened by this hire.

To hire someone who has proven that he's hapless at college basketball's lifeblood, recruiting, is beyond my understanding.  If you can't recruit to Illinois, how can recruit to Kansas State?

The logic that I see here is that John Currie has accepted meritocracy, or worse.  He's got football in the bag (for the moment) and merely looking to bring in someone who won't finish dead last in the Big 12....just be another Wooldridge.

We deserve better.  Take a risk.  Risk to achieve excellence.  Risk it.

Spot-on. I have grown to love KSU hoops and it was not only a GREAT product, BUT everyone loved us and we were all in love with ourselves. Now i want to eat some crystal drain-o and chase it with a gallon of bleach. Thanks JC for rough ridin' us in the ass.

It was our faults all along.   :frown:  Goddam, crap is getting real.  We were kings of the world and let it get the best of us.

My only hope is that Randy Newman will arrange for us a ditty which might narrate and chronicle our consistent failure and fatuity.

 :embarrassed:

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

Dolly Parton (not Hitler) sums up my feelings best:

I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps, etc.

I am just so, so, so sad.  I was a raging furnace of hate all day yesterday.  This morning I'm just sad and depressed and lethargic.  I know I have to rally and keep the fires burning but it's going to be hard to not just walk away and forget about kstate basketball forever.

I loved EMAW hoops completely. I cherished our successes. I dreamed and hoped for more. All of it is gone. The hope, the dreams, the love. Just gone. Yesterday was a funeral. I have nothing left to give.

Curious what others communicated to Currie. Looking forward to crafting one to Breadsticks.

Quote
Mr. Currie,

With all due respect, you have made a terrible decision to run Frank Martin out of Manhattan, and to compound the stupidity by gathering oscar Weber as the head coach of Kansas State University men's basketball.

Having reached a station where I planned on donating a significant amount of money to the athletic department, I now intend to use those funds to ensure your name will be mocked wherever you go.

Myself and a number of other like-minded alumni intend to make of you a leper; one completely disregarded for hire by any administration with half of a brain.

Your unwillingness to work with Frank Martin was obtrusive. Your hiring of oscar Weber is unconscionable. If I need to list the reasons why these statements are facts, you must understand that you are delusional and should seek professional help.

As someone who has no respect for our University, you cannot be expected to empathize with the vitriol being expressed to you. What you can expect is to go through the worst professional hell imaginable after those wise alumni let loose the dogs of war. I feel sorry for your wife and children as their lives will forever be negatively altered as a result of your disdain for Kansas State University.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to marking your reply as junk,
