Sometimes in this sea of emotion and anonimity, greatness is missed, or worse, attacked. Today I made a mistake and attacked greatness.

fanningksu is just a guy who loves his cats, sports journalism, and every now and then a little filly or two. He loves his Cats so much he instantly bought 2 pickets to Tittsburgh (ha!) the second he knew his beloved Cats were going to face of the Southern Miss Eagles in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. He cheered the Cats on to victory, shared a few beverages with some newfound chums, and was just loving life.

Everything changed early Saturday morning when disaster struck. Jamar Samuels was not going to play in their third round game against the Syracuse Orange. It's moments like this that it's time to put down your green bud light and start hitting the phones. And hit the phones fanningksu did. He hit the phones so hard and built the trust of the EMAW faithful in the Consol Energy Center that somehow, some way, he came up with the scoop of the year for the long Kansas State Men's basketball season. After putting his nose to the grindstone, he was ready to break the news to the legion of EMAW faithful with a heavy heart:

The news sent shockwaves across the EMAW nation, showering it's people with despair. Some, such as myself, were unimpressed with his info. "It could be anything", we thought. I made the mistake of specifically calling out fanning in an emotional tirade. For hours, the news was questioned until Austin Meek of the Topeka Capitol Journal confirmed the young fanning's hard-fought scoop. The EMAW nation was stunned. Wait a minute, I thought fanning had that scoop! Still, some dumbasses, such as sys and myself, continued to discredit young fanning.

Do I try to hard to be cool? Am I a dumbass? And most importantly, why was I questioning fanning?

fanningksu, I am sorry. I was wrong for doubting you, questioning you, and especially for not being nice to you. You are a treasure. Fellow goemawers, I implore you to follow Mr. Fannning for scoops, KSU Wildcats love, and maybe a laugh or two along the way. I hope he can one day find a place in his heart for forgiveness.
