I think it’s cause he smokes dope, unlike Wes, Pullen, and Barry

Shut up, 8 man. SD, I’m just narrating his NBA career as what it was. I’m super happy he was a cat.

I just thought he'd be a top player in the league, not a journeyman, in and out of the league. That's it. Sorry for my rant. Love you, Beas/guys!

I'm glad we're finally saying this out loud. Put him in the rafters in 2022 when we can have college sports again

I somewhat agree with Wacky.  When Mike left college I thought he was the next Tim Duncan.  I thought he'd get multiple appearances in the All-Star game, and become a league superstar.

In that sense he was a bust.  There were high expectations for him that went unfulfilled.

He still had a nice career, and will always be able to get buckets.   But there is definitely a feeling of what could've been.

I don't think Wacky was out of line (except for that weird part about smoking weed). Most college stars never become pro stars. Marcus Morris has essentially the same career stats as Beas. Doesn't mean they mean any less to you, and you'll always have their time at your school to look upon fondly. For all the first-round picks KU has generated in the 21st century, outside of Embiid, have they produced another actual top-level NBA talent?  Doesn't mean I can't appreciate a player like Frank Mason.

I don't care about the weed thing, but I think he was kind of a dumbass for getting in trouble with it twice, in his first year in the league and got like 3 chicks pregnant during that time span. It's gotta be hard to be totally focused on your job with all of that going on. Just a tough start from the get go.

sd, do some crap that gets you access to the Disney bubble and into a Nets game.  Mike rough ridin' loves it when EMAW is at his NBA games.

Starts 7/31, but he'll only be in the last 3 of the regular season, 8/9, 8/11 and 8/13.  Thereafter, it's just a matter of how far our guy can carry that squad through the playoffs.  The longest they could possibly go is 10/12.

You may have to deviate from your customary plans and use your disney knowledge to execute a plan of kidnapping an essential person there and sneaking into the arena in their place.

How does Beas compare with the #2 pick the past 20 years stats wise? I mean I’m not gonna calc the math, obvi, but how does he compare? My guess is very favorably.

Imo
Beasley >/=/< other guy

1999 < Steve Francis
2000 > Stromile Swift
2001 < Tyson Chandler
2002 < Jay Williams (motorcycle crash)
2003 > Darko
2004 < Emeka Okafor
2005 < Marvin Williams
2006 < LaMarcus Aldridge
2007 = Kevin Durant
2009 > Hasheem Thabeet
2010 > Evan Turner
2011 > Derrick Williams
2012 < MKG
2013 < Victor Oladipo
2014 < Jabari Parker
2015 < D’Angelo Russell
2016 < Brandon Ingram
2017 < Lonzo Ball
2018 = Marvin Bagley
2019 < Ja Morant

> 5
= 1
< 14

You on that good good? Beasley has had a significantly better career than Jay Williams did. You only have their rookie seasons to compare but Mike had the better rookie season.

Just imo and very unscientific. assumed Williams would have been pretty good.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Another thing to consider regarding NBA expectations is that he wasn't an ordinary top draft pick. He had one of the all time best college seasons. As a freshman!

Beasley's impact goes well beyond basketball stats.  Shame on all of you.
