henson. lou henson. also, no. no self was not better in the couple of years he was there than henson was. gill, anderson, bardo? eff me. the guy averaged over twenty wins during a twenty year coaching period while at illinois. jesus christ and you can't even get his name right.

Dude it was auto corrected on my phone and I missed it, rough ridin' chill.  You don't think I know who Lou Henson is?  Get rough ridin' real man.  I have the program from his final four.  Speaking of which, after his final four he won 1 tournament game his last 7 years including missing the tournament altogether in that time frame.

how would i know what you know and what you don't? i'm not a mind reader and i certainly didn't program code on whatever auto corrected "henson" to "benson".

that aside, henson also averaged over twenty wins over twenty years at that school, meanwhile bill self inherited a lon kruger team full of future nbaers  and then promptly went to an elite 8, a sweet 16 and then the second round exit in the ncaa tournament. i would hardly call not making a final four and finishing worse every single year he was there "amazing". maybe your phone autocorrect "pretty good" to "amazing" though.  :dunno:
Self would have won a title there within 5 years.

lol. what?

I feel like you're trying to be contentious.  We can all agree that Self is 5 times the coach oscar Weber is right?  In what would have been years 4 and 5 for Self at Illinois Weber won 3 Big 10 titles went to a sweet 16 and a championship game.  Is it that much of a stretch to argue that Self would have won 1 more game with a program he built?

Maybe I'm missing what you're getting at here, help me if so.

I think that you are trying to build up what self did at Illinois way, way more than you should be to try to make some point.

it's a pretty good program with coaches that had better seasons both before self was there and after he left yet. self was there for three years, did fine and moved on, yet you want me to believe that the job he did was amazing and that he would have won a national championship within five if he would've stayed. I don't think it was and I would bet a good chunk of money that he wouldn't have.

let me ask you this...yes or no, will bill self win a national title in the next two years at Ku?

Beems seems pretty fired up about all of this.

It's pretty hilarious watching a bunch of K-State fans contend that your program is on par with Illinois.  It's great stuff.  Please keep it up!

Duke had only been to 4 Final Four's prior to Coach K.  They really sucked badly as an overall basketball program prior to Coach K.

Never said they sucked, strawmanofdaxjones.

K-State's total athletic department made more than $11 million dollars more than Illinois' athletic department made in FY 2011 . . . Pepperjax, "That's not relevant".

LOL

We're talking about college basketball programs, 'Pad.  Who cares what Illinois generates in football?  They have more alumni and more fan support than K-State.  It's a better job.  I seriously can't believe so many of you clowns would argue otherwise.

At this point, if it's better, it's not much better.

With the right coach, it's a top 10 job.

Jesus Christ.  It's NEVER been a top 10 program.  Also Duke is living proof of any program being able to be a top 10 program with the right coach.  Small private school in the shadow of a monster with strict admissions and a tiny gym.

It was a top 10 program under Bill Self and the first few years under Weber.  They went like 37-2 and almost won a national title in 2005.  K-State has never even had a 30-win season.  I can't believe how much of a blind homer you are.
your'e a rough ridin' homer and you know it.  How in the eff can you blame someone else of that?

KU has eight straight Big 12 titles, 3 Final Fours, a national title, and a BCS Bowl in the past 10 years.  How the hell does that make me a homer?

You defend KU football

I'm a KU fan.  Doesn't mean I'm going to say KU football is on par with Oklahoma or Texas.

Homer?  Did you miss me saying I think I'd have Illinois and KSU in the high teens to low to mid twenties?  So are you contending that a couple of good years makes a great program?  Did Butler come into the season a top 3 program?  Using your new rubric K-State right now is a waaaayyyy better program than Illinois, UCLA, Indiana, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Florida.  Will take, thanks beems.

You should tap out here, this will go as well as your if you're not the best program in your state you suck talking point

You are an idiot.  Illinois' worst season in the last 20+ years is a 17-15 NIT season.  K-State went to like one NCAA tourney in 20 years before Huggins/Martin came along, and you guys still can't crack the top 4 in the Big 12.  Illinois is a much better program - any way you slice it.

We've finished in the top 4 more recently than Illinois has in their conference.  We've also made the tournament a lot more often recently.  I agree that Illinois is a better job, but you're overselling it and your talking points suck.  Slice it that way

You need to decide what talking point you're going to use and stick with it, you're all over the map friend.  Why does it bother you so much that right now, today, the Illinois job and the Kansas State job are similar?  Call them oranges and see how you feel about it after that.

Self would have won a national title in 2005.  Took him four years to win one at KU.  He'll have about 3 or 4 by the time he retires if he sticks around for another 20 years or so.

Daris, I would give Self a better chance than most at winning a NC within the next two years.  If he left after this year and a new guy came in and went to the title game in year two only to do dick the next 6 years I would say, Bill Self would have won the title with that team.

The only thing I'm doing with that talking point is saying that Self is a much better coach than Weber.  You don't doubt that do you?

There are so many talking points in favor of Illinois over K-State that I can't just choose one.  Why don't you look at what each program has accomplished in the past 10 years and get back to me?  Illinois has had multiple #1 seeds and a national title appearance in the past 10 years alone.  K-State hasn't even come close to either one since the 1960's.

Yeah, clearly oscar Weber is a better coach than Bill Self, dipsh*t.  Self's team went 37-2 and was close to a title in 2005.  Went 37-3 and won it all in 2008.  Has been close to repeating several times since then.  Looking at another 1 or 2 seed this year.  In 20+ years he'll at least have one more national title.  Keep hating dumbass.

the team that self handed weber was no more talented than the team that kruger handed self, yet weber took his team to a title game and selfs bowed out in the elite eight. you hint at me being contentious, yet still tell me that self would have won in 05. lol. who is going to win this year and next year while you're at it.

also, nice duck of the bill self Ku next two years question. guess you think he won't. maybe you think it's easier to win at Illinois than Ku.

henson. lou henson. also, no. no self was not better in the couple of years he was there than henson was. gill, anderson, bardo? eff me. the guy averaged over twenty wins during a twenty year coaching period while at illinois. jesus christ and you can't even get his name right.

Self would have won a national title in 2005.  Took him four years to win one at KU.  He'll have about 3 or 4 by the time he retires if he sticks around for another 20 years or so.

the team that self handed weber was no more talented than the team that kruger handed self, yet weber took his team to a title game and selfs bowed out in the elite eight. you hint at me being contentious, yet still tell me that self would have won in 05. lol. who is going to win this year and next year while you're at it.

also, nice duck of the bill self Ku next two years question. guess you think he won't. maybe you think it's easier to win at Illinois than Ku.

I think you intended to reply to me, don't push beems over the edge.  Like I said I think Self is a better coach than Weber.  We clearly differ on this, no big deal.  Also I didn't duck the KU question, you know full well that isn't a yes/no question and answer.  He's more pulley than 99.7% of all college coaches to do it.  That's all I have for you, friend.

Here's your homework assignment for the night MIRetard:

For both Illinois and K-State:

How many losings seasons in the past 20 years?

How many NCAA tournaments?

How may conference titles?

How many McDonald AA'S?

How many Final Fours?

How many national title appearances?

How many different coaches?

How many coaches with losing records?

Average attendance?

How many 4-star/5-star recruits in past 5 years?

How many NBA Draft picks?

I could go on, but I'll stop there.  I will guarantee Illinois wins 100% of those comparisons.

Yet, they're now looking for a coach . . . in fact, for such a so called prestigious program, they're now conducting their 4th coaching search in about 15 years.
