Yoga Review:

I think I liked it. I did like their intro to yoga class, I was one of three hunks but whatever. It got a little too spiritual (zen?) at times with the "Aum" and whatnot, caught me off guard and I felt silly. They really wanted us to concentrate on breathing and focus on nothing but that, which is nearly impossible for me. I was thinking about who the Royals are gonna sign this offseason.  However, the stretches were great and would recommend if you are super stiff in the legs/back. I'll go back.

I understand the "zen" and "aum" part is a little silly, but the breathing part isn't. You can really enhance your stretches and overall experience if you focus on breathing the way the instructor tells you. It does take practice, not something you'll get right away, as weird as it is to say that breathing takes practice.

I mean we subconsciously do it our whole life, so for us to consciously do it does take practice

yeah I can see that. the breathing part was way harder than the stretching part.

the humming part is important because it grounds you. gets you out of your head and present to the moment. best to feel it low in your body

Focusing on breathing helps block out thoughts too

I need help and advice. I have a gym membership and am going to start using it. I'd like to be futbol fit. I'm 5'11 and 170 getting soft in some areas. Anyway, advice? I'd like to work out 3 times a week. I guess help with a routine and/or diet. Should I seek professional help? Tia.

i would imagine if you're trying to get in shape for soccer you should do a lot of running.

I have a couple of running plans specifically just to build a base, not really train for anything.  Could compliment your workout planning.

I'm detoxing this entire week. No drinks till Friday. Egg sandwich in the morning (whole wheat), salad for lunch, protein bar, and then lettuce wraps (tonight)/chicken &brocolli (tomorrow)/something else healthy the rest of the week. 5 miles a day. Abs today, Chest tomorrow, Abs Thursday, and probably arms on Friday.  :emawkid:

hey me too! ms. blast and i really hit it hard over the holidays, so we're doing a dry january (no alcohol) and a 10 day "cleanse." basically just pounding fruits and veggies, no dairy/sugar/wheat. i normally roll my eyes at the word "cleanse" but hey what the hell, what do i have to lose.
