One of my best friends from high school is skinny fat. All you have to do is start out really skinny, then stop doing anything physical and eat a lot. Boom. You did it.

Why isn't that just called fat?  Is there a line to cross there?
Its an ectomorph phenomenon. You wouldn't normally put on much fat but since your diet and exercise is so bad, your body has no choice but to store the fat reserves in the one place an ecto can store it, the lower belly. The face usually becomes puffy as well but the arms and chest are largely uneffected. Skinny fat.

When I get down to 225, we are all going to party so, so hard, you guys.

Don't let it effect your tire flipping skills, Elliot hulse.

Weirdly enough, all my cardio stuff has gone up significantly since I've started losing weight. That doesn't sound ironic, but I'm doing 400 pound farmer walks and 300 pound sled pushes better than I was before. My deadlift and overhead press have gone down a little bit, but not too badly. I'm not too far off from being able to overhead press my bodyweight, which has been my goal for a long time.

Fat people get jowls and sausage arms. Skinny fat people just look like they're slightly pregnant.

I would guess anything that involves your own bodyweight you'll get better at if you can maintain strength at a lower bodyweight. Im doing football field length farmers carry later today!

Oh definitely. Can finally integrate chin-ups into my workout (non-kipping, of course). So that makes me feel like I'm an actual athlete.

What do you use for 400# farmer carry?  Do they make dumbells or kettles that go up to 200# ea?  I think the dbs at my gym max out at like 110 and the heaviest kettlebell they have is like 52#.

They make bars that look like small trap bars just for farmers carry.

Huh.  I wouldn't have room to even try that at my small YMCA.  Secretly, they don't want me to get fit, I guess.

Grip test for time (totally smoked it. I got 51 seconds and second place got 22) and the farmer walks. Carried that weight 50 feet in 5 seconds.

Back to hook grip vs mixed grip.. IMO I think you will put up heavier dl weight with the mixed but the hook will be more beneficial in other lifts

most people aren't going to be out deadlifting their hook grip, especially if they train using it regularly.
