Any emaw-elite handymen have tips for removing old caulk from shower tile other than just scraping like crazy with a razor, etc?

What kind of caulk?  Are you removing it to reapply new caulk?  Are you trying to keep the finish under it good or will it just be covered back up?

silicone shower caulk. I'm removing it because it is cracked and needs to be replaced with fresh caulk.

Surely someone who is an experienced caulk handler can weigh in on this.

2025 project is new floor in basement family room.  A pallets worth of heavy plank flooring needed moved from garage to basement.

After a few trips, we got creative using a folding table with one leg folded to create a landing spot and slid the boxes down the stairs.

Missed opportunity to cut a hole in the ceiling above the spot you wanted it in the basement

I replaced a faulty ballast in Ms TBT’s closet yesterday. Felt pretty good. I even bought some new electrician tools and junk too.

Very impressive. Probably. I don't actually know what a ballast is.

I am kinda surprised you could find one and didn't have to just buy a new fixture.

While trying to program a remote to the garage door opener, I managed to get it not not open or close.  So, 7 YouTube videos later, the opener is working again and the remote is programmed.  Something that should have taken 5 minutes ended up taking 2 hours.

Maybe this doesn't belong in this thread.

Removed shelving from the laundry room today. Stacked my washer and dryer. Installed the old shelving in the bedroom closet.

All to make room for my new bride and her stuff.

Eh it shouldn't be that hard. Though they are getting rarer/more expensive

Also proud of you TBT. While you should always respect electricity, actually doing electrical work, especially ballast replacement, is pretty straightforward.

I need a couple of handy man type things done on my house. I have a bit of wood rot underneath a gutter and the door that comes in to my unfinished part of my basement needs replaced. Does anyone have anyone that just does random stuff like this in KC?

Not me. The cap/cover/damper(?) to the top of my GF's fireplace blew off with some of the wind a couple of weeks ago. I go up on my single story ranch house roof all the time to clean gutters etc and figured I could put it back on...except this is a cape cod house with a 2nd level.

My original plan was just to get on the roof and walk up there...I got up off the ladder and immediately realized my mistake as I started to slide down the roof that was much steeper than mine, almost crap my pants.

Alright, her dad gave her some fancy 2 story ladder that can fold all sorts of ways so I'll just figure out how to extend it all the way and get up there. 15 minutes and 2 pinched fingers later I leaned the ladder against the chimney stack and it was still too short. Ended up having to call her chimney guy to put the cover back on (when she moved it there were some protected species of bat/bird living in there and they couldn't cap it before the animals left).

It is really hard to find people to do jobs like this these days.

Yeah and every company I call basically wants to replace my entire roof to even come look at it. I could just do Lowes or something like that for the door. There use to be the this app and the company was KC based I think. You basically just posted on it what you needed done (yard work, trash removal, door replacement, etc) and they supposedly had "vetted" people that could reply and give you a bid. I always thought it was a pretty good idea, but it never caught on.

Also maybe not true for everyone, but if your neighborhood has a Facebook (or maybe Nextdoor) group then there’s definitely people who know a guy who does stuff in the area. We had a great sprinkler guy and appliance guy recommended to us.

Friend works in plumbing. Get some "Thrift". I doesn't make any sense to me how it doesn't eat through the pipes. Unclogs anything. Works like a charm and plumber recommended.
