I'm skeptical of how quickly his social media/bbs activities/content were brushed off as a possible cause.

I certainly didn't brush them off.  They're the root of all of what I suspect the concern is with him, but I'm looking at them more as examples of character concerns.

Great, let's tweedle dee dumb this down.

I don't think that fanning is keeping anything from us, nor does he not - deep down - know what the real issue is.  He's just not yet being honest with himself.

Obviously, sales figures aren't the determinant factor here.  As was noted in the job thread, one can walk right into good numbers there carried over from predecessors' accounts.  So maybe they don't buy into the wackalysis numbers, or they don't think they'll continue.

Regardless, clearly their issue is with the "fit" in the company.

So, what could be causing them concern?

I don't think where wacky spends his vacations is itself an issue, unless it was already in the air that wacky desired to return to a full-time career of attending k-state games (see his well-self-publicized pittsburgh news video) and/or being in sports media - maybe they'd heard a few fanningbrags about his broadcasting CV and feared they were being used as an ATM until he got back in the game.  Both doubtful.

More likely, the PTO 4-5 months into the new job for what they viewed as childish endeavors did nothing more than confirm concerns they already had.

Stepping outside of Planet Wacky and into the shoes of DSI middle management (the Gordon Biersch PR flag-taker-down'rs of fanning's office), what would their perspective be when looking at our guy on a day-to-day basis in his plush new office in which he's taking P&L pics out the window?

I think that will give us a start into the rationale that led to the fancanning.

I'll start with a few questions.

Was part of the job sending them reports or updates on your work in memo form?

What did they think your values were, i.e. what was most important to you?  (money, prestige, growth, time, etc.)

Expand a bit on your "refusal to kiss ass" unlike the rest of the office.  Like give some tangible examples.
See my previous post for the cliffs notes version of all this ^^^^

Maybe.  That said, #1 in sales seems like a hard thing to argue with when it comes to performance or work ethic, unless he is harming others abilities to sell or work.

I mean, if #1 is real, and he isn't causing issues with clients or other sales ppl, you have to think that they would let it ride another quarter or so.  If something works, it works.

Not saying that work ethic, or perceived work ethic, isn't a possibility.  This gets out of my realm of Wackycat as I have never met him irl.

Who knows how many different sales CHUMPs or SNOWBRAGs there are that could produce all kinds of different rankings depending on criteria, one of which has fanning (a Tubberville-coached salesman) at #1?

There probably are issues with other salespeople or coworkers - we know that at a minimum he views them as ass-kissers and somebody there is bitching about his commitment to the job.

Limiting it to just what you know from here - how 'bout when he crashed on winters'/scottwildcat's couch for a week rather than figuring out an alternative way to get back to work, what factors he was considering when deciding between jobs, etc. - can you see a whip-crack'n manager clashing with him?

I'm in a sales organization. 4-5 months is a quick trigger even if your sales are weak. There's certainly something missing from wc account. He may not realize it.

There are scenarios that make sense if there are details missing.  I am getting very close to speaking out of turn though given I have no other Wackycat baseline other than gE.

I would like to see CNS speak out of turn.

Trim, stop speculating, you're making an ass out of yourself, based off assumptions. You have no clue how my work ethic is IRL. Also, love the talking point about "too much bbs'ing!" The ones that are preaching that, do it themselves, and my bbs'ing cutback incredibly since starting this job. I get it Trim, you like to make an ass out of me, or point and laugh when I'm doing it to myself, but you don't know wtf you're talking about on this one.

I find it odd that so many coworkers have told me this is bs and they don't understand. I think that speaks for itself.

Stop being a dumb eff! Maybe it's cause you all like to pounce on the guy who's down. It's sick. Like I know half of you don't have souls and you're the rough ridin' worst, but I would never wish this on any of you.

fwiw, trim is not doing a "point and laugh" routine here (at least not yet).  unless the situation has changed, even you're confused by this whole thing WS.  lots to put together to figure out WTF is going on with this very real life situation

So why'd they fire you?

Also, are you still doing the thing where you blackmail them into giving you un-vested commission money or more severance pay?  Because while I know you're not reading my posts, you really should read this one.

don't grovel and whine to HR, fanning.  it's over.
I have a little leverage. You want info from me on these contacts? Give me my commissions or a longer severance. Why would I not go down swinging? :dunno:

Because how you handle this will play a significant role in your future employment prospects.  Honor the contract you excitedly signed, and be honest with yourself about why they let you go and prepare to address it in interviews.

Or just do whatever you want.  I'm sure it'll work out.

Knowledge transfer was a big reason. Just sat in with my boss and he didn't feel I was grasping the product. Said it had nothing to do with me, but being able to talk about the product is important and he didn't feel I was there yet. He also said he could tell this wasn't my passion and thinks I'm talented at a lot of things, but software knowledge wasn't one of them.

This makes it even more confusing.

not there yet?? is this DCC Making the Squad?

are you supposed to get some software knowledge training and passion coaching and try again next year?

they knew your software background when they hired you and its not any of his rough ridin' business what you are passionate about.
