Poor defense, but sometimes you have to find a way to win offensive games. Especially when you have control of it in the 2nd half. Its frustrating to now have several losses that feel Wooly-like. Just a lack of ability to finish, average guard play, and inconsistent playmaking down the stretch when you need players to make plays.

Keys to  second half collapse:

1 give up 1.39 PPP(check)
2. Get worked on the offensive glass (check)
3. Get annihilated in FTR ( check)

FTR is pretty discouraging, especially since after the first 5 minutes we appeared to be working the ball inside hard

Curtis Allen throwing the ball off the front of the rim, only to have it roll in, really helped their efg in the 2nd half

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

If that was "average" guard play, I'm Fred Hoiberg.

It make you wonder why teams have had such great offensive success against us in the second half of ballgames.  What adjustments is the staff not making?

Angel needs to find a way to stay on the floor.  This is the second straight game that he has fouled out in less than a half of play (16 min vs OU, 18 min vs ISU)....if he wants to be our starting pg, you just can't do that.  Obviously NOT the only issue, incredibly frustrating loss.

I think it is a huge issue.  He was once again, the only one doing anything at the start of the game.  Then soon after making some plays, he makes a stupid foul and has to sit.  We then have to watch Spradling dribble around begging for Rod to get open before he turns it over or misses a shot.  Having Angel on the bench is killing us.

Yes on Angel. He has become the option that can get to the rim off the dribble. This team needs that.

This is my new hobby while watching EMAW hoops.  Watching Sprads silently beg someone, anyone, else to take the ball/shot.

He is the kid in right field who can't catch, praying there are no lefties on the other team.

Jeremy Jones can do this as well but doesn't play for us.  Apparently because of his horrible defense.

I would classify excessive fouling as horrible defense as well, so who knows...

Jones hasn't really shown he can get to the rim off the dribble IMHO. His biggest asset has been shooting.

I agree that some of Angel's fouls are a result of bad defense, but he has gotten much better. Most of the time his fouls are just taking ill advised chances.

my unscientific claim is that a good chunk of angel's fouls are fouls because angel is a freshman and the refs know it. as he continues to assert himself in the conference, fewer and fewer will be called.

royce white was fouling the hell out of us last night, few were called.  because he's royce white.  aka rice.

True.

And while I won't blame the refs for the game because we lost it, but Frank's complaint about the no call on McGruder was legit. Good players usually get that call, even on the road.

So, is there any doubt that Mark Whitehead (?) and crew are going to F us in the A next time they draw our game?

Last night, I was really melting down hard, so I didn't want to say it wasn't. But today I may or may not want to say it was.
