Ben had a great point there. Don't know why some people got pissed. If Wally played at least ten more minutes in substitute for Lou then we win.

I'm all for Wally getting more minutes at Lu's expense at the moment.  Earlier in the season though, he wasn't playing as well and wasn't staying out of foul trouble to do this.  I was annoyed at people implying Wally has been robbed the whole season and that Wally does everything better than Lu.  Lu still has his place

Wally takes 1 kind of bad shot, and gets yanked.

Also IMO all the stuff everybody nitpicks the kid on is an experience thing . . . with experience comes the understanding of the flow of the game, the how's and the what's.   The kid IMO is at the cusp of being a legit offensive threat, something that Lu has never and will never be.

It amazes me that people don't see what Frank is doing here, he's done it with 3 different groups of freshmen.  Agree or disagree with the philosophy should be the discussion here.  These are the exact same discussions we were having with Jacob Pullen, Ron Anderson, Jamar Samuels, and now Wally and Rodney.

it is what it is and with one exception it has worked when it comes to developing these players.

I can understand an argument that Wally didn't play in the second half because the team left itself with no room for error. But keeping him on the bench in the first half for Victor Ojaylay -- I don't even want to learn to spell it -- seriously?

When Vic came in, my kids learned a few new words.

I feel bad for McGruder as well.  The poor guy is getting less minutes than Chris "Hey, at least I work hard" Merriweather.  Glad we're in agreement on this one, 'Pad.  You're one of the few guys on this board who thinks for themselves, instead of just defending Frank's every move.

Energy plays when Frank is angry, so Vic plays when Frank is really angry i guess?  :dunno:

Hey, Ben, remember when you said that Anderson wouldn't win the Conference P.O.Y?

Add that (and anything you wrote in this thread) to the list of sports-related stuff that you have no idea about.

Exactly.  The only reason Vic (and JHR at the time) went in was b/c Frank was absolutely ticked at the other guys out there.

Very obvious what Frank was doing here, the team had been underperforming for a while so he threw a game to wake 'em up just prior to tournament season.  Very smiilar to Self's strategy: he is on record as wanting to see his guys involved in an off-court "incident" of some sort just prior to tourney season in order to promote team chemistry.  Frank didn't have that option since unlike Self he doesn't recruit thugs & mongoloids but instead sticks to high character types.  Thus Frank had to throw a game rather than waiting for an off-court incident which wasn't about to happen.  Pretty good strategy given that the ISU game meant absolutely nothing in the overall scheme of things.

Why does everyone wonder why CM and LC play ahead of RM and WJ when MI and JHR play ahead of them, too?  It's not about seniority or development or strategy.  At this point, RM and WJ just suck more than the people who get on the court.  That's all there is to it.

sometimes I respect the fact that we have dax as our own self-appointed earthdog.  Considering some of the mouth-breathers that I encounter, it is always nice.
