Seriously, how often do you get an itch to play your original version of Halo?

Short answer: all the time!

If I could find 7 other people to play Halo: CE LAN parties with, that would be fantastic.

I've been playing like, a lot of AOE 2 HD.

What's your Steam name?  I have it too, I will play against you and anyone else from here that wants to play.

Compare and contrast it to Civilization, please!  I love Civilization, but haven't played any AOE.

I love both but here are the key differences and similarities

Civ: Turn based, spans ancient history all the way to future era, the games are much more time consuming, there are many different ways to win
AoE: Real time, everything is in Medieval era (there is some progression: Dark Ages -> Feudal Ages -> Castle Ages -> Imperial Ages), killing everyone is pretty much the only way to win (at least in non-campaign missions), have to gather four different types of resources to have a strong economy, really cool campaigns that will teach you about history without feeling educational

Both games have a lot of different unique nations to play as, they both have diplomacy, they both have trade

I have never played Civilization.

You can torrent the original version of AOE pretty easy and play a few games against the computer to see if you like it.

Also the HD version is only like $15 on steam so even if you don't like it it's not a big loss.

I need to buy a new PS3. Which one should I get? Was thinking to get the AC3 bundle with the 500gb super slim or whatever for 300 then selling the game on ebay as a "rebate."

I had no idea there was this many options.

Yeah, I read that Sony brought in some highly respected game developer guy to help design the PS4 so all of the game developers wouldn't hate it so rough ridin' much like they did the PS3.  I would think that might mean they'll have more games for it and they'll be released faster/more frequently too.  There's a term for that, but I'll be damned if I can remember it.  I'm not really conversant in these things.

Thought about that. But my disc reader failed and I don't want to wait until "holiday 2013".

I use it for games. But it won't read either. And I'm wary of buying one here (or even any parts) because of the anti-pirating thing that keeps stuff from one region from working with stuff in another.

As a long time fan of the old SSX series I bought the newest SSX from the XBL store.  It's ok, but not great like the old ones.  I had SSX Tricky and SSX 3 on my PS2 that I got rid of years ago as I assumed they would continue making more awesome games like those.  Wrong.  Those games are now 8-10 years old and I would have to dig up a PS2 or Xbox to play them.  This pisses me off.  Whoever is reponsible for this I hate your guts, please make a new one (good one).  Like, say SSX Tricky 2 with original characters, soundtrack updated for 2013 (lots of indie dance stuff) and include snowboarding, supercross, skating and surfing all in one game.  Hint, the old T&C Wood and Water Rage game for NES.

tl;dr version:

  MIXED WITH

kthx bai

That t&c game was rough ridin' hard.

Loved the skate boarding and hated the surfing.  It had great music.  Really intense with some wave crashing sounds thrown in.

I don't think anybody knew how to surf. Pretty sure they forgot to program something in that part.
