I'm at 150 wins in Fortnite. So, I've been playing Arena (which is the competitive version) for the past two days and am getting absolutely DESTROYED.

So, I guess this means I just have to keep playing and getting better.

I just realized that all of this is going to force me to buy a gaming computer and switch from controller to keyboard and mouse. How do I stop!?!?

Mrs. K_M motherboard went out, so we had to get a new MB, CPU, and RAM.  Using her old GPU until they come down to a reasonable price.

So, I guess this means I just have to keep playing and getting better.

You are too old to ever be decent at competitive even with a decent pc rig. sorry your hand-eye coordination, reaction time, ping and hours you will dedicate are just not enough.  Enjoy the match engine and have fun.

Working 2 jobs, 50 wins, and probably runs 2 miles a day and gets 10 hours of sleep. You’ve won life.

I don't think you are going to see "reasonable" prices on GPU's anytime soon.  Best luck is to get a low hash rate GPU that miners turn their noses up at.  AMD has good ones around $500 or so.

My understanding is that both regular and Arena use skill based matchmaking. The difference is that Arena is full of try-hards. Based on what I've seen, I'll need to progress a lot more to be competitive with the try-hards. That's why it is appealing to me.

Chum1, I built a gaming pc for the same reason last year. I wanted to continue progress in overwatch because the controller holds me back quite a bit. While the control is way better, I found I preferred to just relax on the couch with a controller. Now it's just box to view adult images....

I got my kid mario odyssey on switch which is an older game but it's fun AF to watch him play it. it's like the perfect difficulty for an 8 yo to play without me assisting at all.

There are Switches that are $300 that have gray control sticks. There are others that are $400 that have red/blue. Are there different versions of his thing (besides OLED)? I can’t forgive out why is $100 more than the other.
