Maybe you are gaming a lot more than me, but when they announced Scorpio at the same time I am struggling to justify the spend.  IF they stick to their timeline, that's upgrading for 16 months (assuming Scorpio is worth the next upgrade).

Maybe you are gaming a lot more than me, but when they announced Scorpio at the same time I am struggling to justify the spend.  IF they stick to their timeline, that's upgrading for 16 months (assuming Scorpio is worth the next upgrade).

ya i don't really mind the upgrade.

we already knew about scorpio before the e3 announcement.  what we don't know about it are its system specs. 
if i wanted VR and 4K gaming today, i could build a pc, own its specs, and buy a vive.  supposedly every game playable on the scorpio will be playable on the current consoles, with the exception of the vr stuff.

i bought the xbox one s because of its smaller form factor, the way it looks, integrated power brick, uhd gaming/more powerful processing, bluetooth, and because i hate just about everything about my 1st gen xbox one.  wtf is with the usb on the side of the console?  so dumb. 

i also had a credit at amazon so i didn't pay retail.

I am kicking around the S as I have the occasional issue with my Day One and am worried it will get to unplayable.  Controllers don't sync, games don't always start out of the sleep mode properly, etc.  I don't know if that is every XOne console or just particularly bad on my early one.

my day 1 edition has the same issues.  my neighbor had the same, he's already upgraded to the elite.  between the need to upgrade to a properly sized HDD, my amazon credit, the uptick of the one s's specs, and the issues i have with my 1st gen console, the upgrade made sense.  i should be able to get at least $100 out of my current console too, come august 31st.

One S does not support uhd gaming, just an HDR color gamut.  I will also wait for the good xbox one.  My current one runs fine, and I use my PS4 about 95% of the time anyway.  I'm pretty sure ps4 went back to the drawing board after microsoft announced Scorpio, so I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with to compete.

i meant hdr but regardless, nothing sony has done in the past 10 years has competed with microsoft so you shouldn't get too excited.
maybe a gaming newb (ps4 player?  really? lulz) like you should just stick with a wii since it sounds more your speed.

Except for Sony manhandling Microsoft for the past 5 years.  Luckily microsoft is releasing a console that is smaller than a betamax player about 3 years after their competition was able to.
