GTA 5 New guy advice needed:

Going to pick this game up and give it the ol' community college try.

What are the first few things I need to be doing in this game? What should I be focusing on at first?

I love the Elder Scrolls games and loved Red Dead.....in those there's stuff you want to do to get cash fast, and level up, and sweet places to go to get the best guns and stuff. What about GTA 5 for a new guy?????

spend most of your time at the strip club "making it rain" if you wanna level up fast.

I guess I mean I want your advice on how best to do that, or point out things I should make sure and do. I want good guns and crap, I guess so, i want to know how to get those quickly

There is a way to make a ton of cash. i missed on what investments to make though.

I don't want to cheat, that's no fun. I just want to know the "best" way of going about things

Pete, do missions until you unlock Trevor. By then you will have all 3 characters, a sizeable bank, understanding of game mechanics, and most activities open to you.

After that just do what you want.

But GTA V is the very definition of open world, feel free to explore and do the random events if you come across one, for the most part the order you do things doesn't matter.

The only thing is the assassination missions for Franklin can make tons of money on the stock market so some people save those for the very last when you investment can be much higher.

i drove around a lot with franklin, the first character and leveled his driving skills, also leveled up his shooting skills at the gun range. leveling up on GTA V is different than the past games, it actually helps. triathlons will level up your stamina. but ya you will want to at least unlock michael then just do the open world stuff. but don't be afraid of playing too quick, it's a big game and the online is where you'll go. i'm like 28% done and have been taking my time but bought it on day 1.
