He simply wasn't given an opportunity to continue to be spectacular, because for some reason Frank thinks Angel is better than 'Tay (not yet, Frank). As for Jamar, if you want to call him "fine," that's fine, but those missed bunnies are absolute killers. Recognizing that he'll go off for 25 against some unsuspecting foe in the coming weeks, I'm pretty much done with Jamar. Not because he's worse than some other players, but because as a senior he needs to be much better and more effective than he is now (suck it michigancat, he should be better despite your protestations to our expectations as opposed to Jamar's meh-ness).You're being selective in your memory. Tay didn't have the silly TOs that Angel did (and likely wouldn't), but there several times in the 2nd half where he got dribble happy and either turned it over or bogged down the offense followed by Frank screaming at him "PASS THE BALL".You know why he started dribbling? Because no one was moving or coming to the ball. 'Tay was plenty patient before finally putting the ball on the floor to avoid a 5-sec call and try to make something out of nothing, which is far more than you can say for Spradling last night. Spradling never saw a pass back to the point he didn't like. All of our guards played poorly or at least had poor stretches last night. And none played particularly well. I agree that with Irving in for Angel down the stretch we don't make those two turnovers, though the first one was him trying to create, which I can live with. But I don't agree that Tay played specatular outside the first 5-6 minutes of the game. He wasn't terrible, but he didn't do anything that stood out and he also made his fair share of mistakes. I also think its fair to acknowledge that Angel made several plays in building the 4 point lead at around the 4 minute mark.

i bet that somewhere around the 15:00 minute mark of the 1st half, frank remembered that martavious had been practicing badly.
our inbounds plays have sketchy all season.
Wait....JO was telling Frank to pay attention to the game? That seems weird/hilarious to me.
Quote from: kougar24 on January 11, 2012, 01:25:14 PMWait....JO was telling Frank to pay attention to the game? That seems weird/hilarious to me.Yes, he pulled on his arm and pointed to the floor while saying something to Frank. Like I said, Baylor had already crossed half court.
Side note: was this Frank's worst game? I can't think of a worse one. Not in terms of result, but in terms of his in-game coaching decisions.

Probably one of his worst weaknesses as a coach. After Gip's travel Frank came down and kneeled and started chewing out Angel, back to the court. Play started again and JO pulled on Frank by the time Baylor had brought it across half court (Frank's back still to the floor) and looked to be telling him to quit with Angel and go coach his team.

Chewing out Angel is just as important as whatever he would have done while Baylor had the ball. I mean seriously.
how much time was left when he yanked JO for the lane violation. I remember being pissed at Frank for that during that part of the game. Gip had no business in there.

Not in terms of result, but in terms of his in-game coaching decisions. Not to me. At some point you'd expect some of your other players (besides McGruds and JO a bit) to make more good plays than bad plays. I still think Frank's game plan put is in position to win the game, and even many of his in game decisions weren't terrible. It was one of the last 4 minutes I've ever seen in a close game, but I can't pin all that on Frank. Perhaps not getting a better inbounds play in with 3 seconds, but everything else was fine. Even the set up with 20 seconds gave a guard a wide open lane to the basket with a wide open McGruds in the corner, I don't know how you can complain about that.

You've talked me off that ledge, but I'd still like an example of what you'd consider one of Frank's worst games from an in-game point of view.

His first trip to Columbia would be one of his worst probably.
who gives a eff about in-game coaching? Foul when you're up 3 with less than 10 seconds to go. That's really all you have to do.
I remember our players playing like crap every year in Columbia and getting run out of the gym. I don't recall Frank costing us a game there with questionable decisions. I'll have to look that game up.
