He missed (1) practice to be on the radio? Meh! The things being discussed in the pit are batshit crazy.
His team is 2-22, on a 19 game losing streak, and his team knows he left them for his literal day job, the optics matter a ton. He's also not just missing a practice, he's missing film sessions, team meetings, meetings with his coaches, and he's not evaluating high school players, which is a huge part of the job this time of the year. Doug would absolutely and appropriately be using his show to kill another coach, who had another full time job while coaching, and one that made him leave the team for an extended stretch during the season. He's the type of dude, that if someone cared enough to dig, that at some point went after a player for leaving his team for paternity leave. All that being said, this is the fault of the athletic director, and he should be fired before Doug does. In fact, if I were the UP, I'd fire the AD, and give Doug the option to keep his job, given he gives up the radio show.
