The Extra Preliminary Round started August 20th. The tournament is crazy and goes through every tiny club that exists in England (and some Welsh teams). It involves 763 clubs. The 3rd round proper is where the Premier League teams start, so that's kinda the real starting point of the competition. That's the first week of January.

i know it's an entirely different scenario, but kinda funny to think about how they can get from 763 teams on down to 64 by the third round "proper" and people talk about the sec determining a conf. champ with 13 teams as insurmountable.

That's because in America, the stupid people need brackets to understand how a tournament works. The FA Cup is a random draw. Take 119 college football team, have a couple play in rounds, then at 64 make it total random. You might get LSU-Oklahoma in the first round with ku-New Mexico State as another match up. You might get a team with a lot of fans like Ohio State going to play somewhere tiny like Northern Colorado or something crazy. It would totally mind eff everyone.

christ was that ref awful yesterday.  what a rough ridin' joke of a red card.  i possibly have not seen a more one sided referee in any soccer match in my life.

Don't blame the ref, blame the people that make the rules. Refs have been told time and time again to have a zero tolerance on two footed studs up tackles. Yes he got the ball, no he didn't get the player, but it was still 2 feet up. You don't need a player lying there with a broken ankle to produce a red.

Always a red card.

never a yellow.  there wasn't even any contact made.  it was an amazing tackle.  the ref saw what he wanted to see.

he basically didn't even leave his feet until he had made the tackle.  stuck his right foot out then fell on his butt.  terrible call.  the ref has to take some responsibility for maintaining the credibility of the game in spite of the rules.  they do this all the time.  example:  hand balls by definition have to be cards because you can't have a hand ball without it being intentional.  intentional hand balls are automatic cards.

point being refs interpret shitty rules differently.  this ref had an agenda

Looks like you're wrong. The FA rejected Kompany's appeal. 3 game ban hahahaha

another rule disregarded by the ref:  rooney making the card sign to the ref is itself by rule a yellow card.  hey look another subjective decision by the ref in favor of manchester united.  shocking.

no red card appeals are ever overturned.  means nothing in regards to the original mistake/fixing by the ref

Red cards get rescinded all the time. Just not when there was malicious intent. Kompany wanted to end a career.
