Sqwawks think it's the Fenway or Wrigley of college basketball. The difference being it's not a fresh-air venue, and you may have you noticed nobody is building retro indoor arenas.

I have an attorney friend, big KU fan. He did a HUGE remodel of his attic (again!) this past fall during the Jayhawks' football season. Anyway, I was over checking out this latest remodel and he tells me, "Listen, don't tell anybody, but now that we've got our new football coach in place and are headed to the top of the standings, I'm really hoping we can turn our attention to replacing that old dump Allen. I'm planning to make a sizable contribution myself." I asked him how much he was planning to give, and he assured me it would be among the larger single gifts that KU has seen from an alumnus. I pressed him for an amount, and he told me "more than $1,000 but less than $1,050." I have to admit, I was impressed. That's quite a bit of dough for a second-rate traffic attorney to drop, but he does love his hox, and he is one of the most successful KU-grad attorneys in KC (and probably the US).

allen field house has bedbugs fwiw. uncle is an administrator there and told me they can't get rid of them. burn your clothes before entering your house/car if you attend a game.

How much did having a modern arena contribute to us passing KU as a basketball program? It's easy to point to Frank Martin as the sole reason we passed them by but I think more modern facilities had something to do with it as well. Not that Frank couldn't have done it anyway but I think it made it easier.
