2011 goEMAW.com National Coach of the Year Award
« on: December 23, 2011, 09:35:23 AM »
Please nominate!

What the committee needs:

- A picture of the candidate
- A brief rundown of who they are (age, how long at job, record this year)
- A short answer as to why they deserve to win (one paragraph, please!)

After we get the candidates, the pool will be narrowed down to 3 and we will have a vote.

Thanks, and Go Cats!

I'll start!

I nominate Hugh Freeze, Arkansas State (just hired at Ole Miss!)

The 40 year old coach led Arkansas State to a 10-2 record this season!  Wow!  Arguably no other coach in America did more with less than Freeze this season.  Yeah, he's kind of dorky looking, but the guy's coaching really ices the competition.

Les Miles:  He's about 53 or so.  That's what I'd guess anyways.  He's been at LSU for a while and before that was at Oklahoma State.  He's 11-0 this year.  Maybe 12-0.   Not really sure.

He deserves it because he went undefeated in the SEC, probably the second hardest conference in the country, and played Oregon in the OOC.  Pretty tough schedule and he won all his games, so yeah.  I nominate Les.

Doc Sadler

51 years old.  Been at Nebraska 6 years.  2011 record: 8-3  Career record 144-89.

I nominate Robby Paterno.

If you know anything about college football, you know how far back the Paterno name goes.  Anyway, he's coach of University of Arkansas, and has led them to a fantastic season in his third year coaching there.  He has created a cutlure there that screams "we only lose to national champions and national champion runner-ups!"  Guys, they're that good.  Also, take into consideration that they've managed this season despite a child-sex scandal this world has never seen.  And even then, he manages to sign McDonald's All-American one after another, and really if you're a one-and-done type player, then you want to play for Rick.  So, there ya go, that's my nomination.

EDIT:  Also, he has eight rough ridin' Oscar wins!  Loved him in "Scent of a Woman."

I nominate Norm Chow.  I don't have a pic because I am on my phone and honestly no one knows/cares enough to know what he looks like.

He has made the best off season moves in transfering from Utah to Hawaii.

I think he used to be an awesome OC too.

While I think Snyder was certainly deserving, this mindset by some that no body else deserved it besides Snyder is absurd.

I thought Gundy did a great job, yes, they lost at ISU, but that was one of those weird nights and a weird day for that athletic department.   Lots of folks questioning if they could finally win the Big 12, and they way they handled OU.
