Decent odds I'm going to get into a fist fight with someone before the season is over who shouts "MAN DUNK IT GOD!!!" when he and/or JO catches the ball.  If I spent more time in section 17 it would almost be a guarantee, better for me to sit with the old people in section 10.

Why is sitting in 17 and getting in a fistfight a bad thing?

Am I looking at this wrong? Is he playing in a more efficient and effective manner than I'm giving him credit for?

Probably. Jamar actually has the 2nd best offensive rating on the team behind Sprads. Yes, just slightly better than Gip. He is just a really unconventional better, so it's hard to categorize him. As much as Frank gets frustrated with him, he really plays JYCBB as well as any big Frank has had.

He's not unconventional at all, its just that dumb combo fanners expect him to dunk the ball every time he touches it.  He can hit a mid range jumper, he is average with his back to the basket, can put the ball on the floor if he has the right matchup and is a good offensive rebounder, pretty much standard for most undersized fours.

He doesn't need to dunk it every time but it would be nice if he didn't look like a puppet being controlled by strings by some guy in the rafters every time he goes up for a shot.  I don't think that's asking too much  :dunno:

also, does anyone else remember the preseason NIT game in '94 when we played against alabama in tuscaloosa and antonio mcdyess crushed us by ~30?
their dunkfest reminded me of that game.

along with demond and belvis, elliot hatcher also was on that team.

I remember listening, ugly game.

if people didn't inexplicibly think that samuels is much more talented than he is, they wouldn't say such stupid things about his finishing rate and style.
"a garden city man wondered in april if the theologians had not made a mistake in locating the garden of eden in asia rather than in the arkansas river valley."

That's why I call him unconventional. One of his biggest skills is simply playing really hard. He isn't a back to the basket post, but he's not really a face up player either. When he scores it comes from a large variety of ways; a few FTs, a few jumpers, an occasional 3, some put backs, a few post moves in the paint, and some transition baskets. And all that varies (often greatly) from game to game. But he almost always plays hard and is solid on defense. I like watching him play.

That's why his top end games make for amazing highlight reels.  If he were strictly a post up player or a jump shooter, I think people would recognise a good game for what is was rather than some glimpse of greatness. I mean, his OSU Dr Pepper highlights look like Beaz highlights.  That messes with people.  They start hoping for "consistency".
